Deciding..
Jun. 13th, 2006 05:12 pmI am 27 weeks pregnant, and expecting a girl. I've been putting off picking out a name, but I figure I better get to thinking up something, else she will be nameless! So far, I've had alot of trouble with picking out names. I didn't realize just how picky I was! This seems to be the short list I've come up with, and I've taken to try and mix them up to see what I like. I am open to any suggestions about these names, or other names you would place with them. I get tired of searching through endless baby name sites, and would rather just have flat out opinions on it. :)
Madalyn
Malise
Reagan
Ava
Avie
Jane
Scarlett
Adaire
Laila
So far, I really like the name Madalyn, because I can call her Maddy for short. I like Ava, but it seemed a bit too much for a first name, and have been considering it as a middle name. I threw Scarlett in there becuase I am a huge gone with the wind fan, and I don't know of any Scarletts where I live. Laila was tossed in there because of the Eric Clapton song. Lol. Any help on coming up with something unique would be much appreciated!

Date: 2006-06-13 10:26 pm (UTC)I like Madalyn, but the nn "Maddy" will also be shared by the 20 other "Madison's" she'll be going to school with... Scarlett is just gorgeous, and Jane makes a beautiful middle name. "Madalyn Jane" is just beautiful. You have wonderful tastes in names, congrats on the baby girl :D!
Since our tastes are so similar... here are some of my favorite girls combos, perhaps something will jump out at you:
Laila Brynn
Carys Bree (rhymes with "Ferris")
Lily Jane
Paris Quinn
Isabelle Ava (nn: Issy, Belle, etc.)
Halle Faith
Scarlett Sage

Date: 2006-06-13 10:41 pm (UTC)Scarlett Elyse
Scarlett Jane
Scarlett Rose
something with one syllable would work.
I dont really live madalyn or the nickname maddy...getting way to common for my liking. I named my dog laila so i dont see it as a name i could use for a child. Jane is a great middle name but i find it hard to come up with a mn for Jane

Date: 2006-06-13 11:22 pm (UTC)Malise - I've never heard Malise before. It looks made up, if I'm to be honest.
Reagan - Not my style, but pretty. I think the R and G sounds make it a bit too harsh--it's a boys name originally and I think it's a bit masculine. I did know a Reagan and she was the sweetest girl ever.
Ava - Great name, but it's getting crazy popular--if it's not too popular in your area you should use it. It's so classy.
Avie - How are you pronouncing this? Again, it looks a little made-up. Or like a nickname for Ava. How about Evie?
Jane - BEAUTIFUL.
Scarlett - Very pretty.
Adaire - I like the Adair spelling better, but it's a very pretty name either way.
Laila - Love it.
Just my opinion, of course. I think Laila Adaire is just gorgeous.

Date: 2006-06-14 12:13 am (UTC)Malise - Makes me think of malaise
Reagan - Uck, too presidental, and not a president I cared for either.
Ava - Nice but too popular for my taste.
Avie - Fine, but sounds like a nn for... Avery?
Jane - Nice, classy and cute. Rarely used.
Scarlett - Garish-sounding imo. I don't like that sound "scar" in a name, either.
Adaire - Makes me think "Truth or Dare."
Laila - Not a favorite of mine, but it's ok.

Date: 2006-06-14 03:40 am (UTC)Malise~interesting, but it reminds me of "Meliss", a nn for "Melissa".
Reagan~not my style at all.
Ava~gorgeous but too popular. Eva is an alternative, but I see it rising in popularity as well.
Avie~nms. Have you considered Avery?
Jane~love it.
Scarlett~LOVE it. Scarlett Jane would be wonderful.
Adaire~nmsaa.
Laila~I've loved this name for a very long time, but it's really gaining in popularity, unfortunately.
You have some really nice names here! Best wishes! :)

Date: 2006-06-14 04:14 am (UTC)lila (pronounced: lie - luh) seems to be becoming really popular for some reason, i know two new babies with that name born just this year. thought it might be an idea, if you like laila? just thought id suggest it.
madalyn is nice, but i prefer the tradtional spelling of madeline.
how is avie pronounced? i think i like it.
i dont know how youre pronouncing reagan - like the former president? ive really only seen it spelled regan as a first name, but its kind of cute. could be a great middle name.

Date: 2006-06-14 06:32 am (UTC)Malise- sounds like Malaise :-s
Reagan= Ray Gun
Ava- cuuuuute! It may be popular but it's classic
Avie- Also lovely, Maybe as a middle name, though? Scarlett Avie
Jane- Middle name material to me, but it's so pretty and classic
Scarlett- I love it, sweet for a little girl and classic for a woman
Adaire- There's a shop in Australia that sells bedlinen called Adairs so I'm a bit biased against it
Laila- If it's for the song I'd say Layla, and I think this is an absolutely GORGEOUS name it's on my list
Congrats on your child!

Date: 2006-06-14 09:57 am (UTC)We thought she'd be a Maddy but she's a Mouse instead. She made little squeaky noises like a mouse as a newborn. so cute. :)

Date: 2006-06-14 04:12 pm (UTC)Malise - All I'm seeing is malice, not good.
Reagan - too trendy, I don't like it. Seems too childish.
Ava - cute, but sooooooooooooo popular. Better for a middle name.
Avie - WAY too nicknamey.
Jane - love it!!
Scarlett - very nice
Adaire - nms
Laila - nms but okay
