I find myself obsessed with boys’ names. There are very few truly ‘girly’ names that I like. Is anyone else like this?

Okay, here is a list of my current favourite names. Let me know what you think. Also, I'd love to hear of any combinations of the first/middle names that appeal to you.

Boys:

Theodore
Elliott
Milo (My – low)
Noah
James
Oliver
Simon
Elijah
Neville
Emery
Quinn
Liam
Seamus (Shay – mus)

Girls:

Elliott
Rylan
Willow
Ean

Middle Names:

Cyrus
Patrick
Morgan
Spencer
Wyatt
Drew
Lawrence
Jude
Ashton
Reese
Marty
Finn
Jack
Wilder
Montague

Also, I think my grandparents’ names are rather funny/interesting. They are: Dennix and Birte (beer-ta), Camilla and Vernon.

It boggles my mind that anyone would consider Elliott a girl's name.

What's next? Girls named Charles or Robert?

I can see that you like boys names... considering you're favorite girls names are very masculine. I personally like MORE girls names, but I feel stronger about my boys names...

Boys:

Theodore - OK, nms
Elliott - OK, nms
Milo - a dogs name.
Noah - adore.
James - very classy, a good middle name.
Oliver - so many people love this name it seems, but it's not for me.
Simon - a chipmunk. ;)
Elijah - I like it.
Neville - No.
Emery - Never heard this before, it sounds like a girls name to me.
Quinn - I adore this, especially for a girl
Liam - Nice.
Seamus - SHAME US! This is just awful.

Girls:

Elliott - Boys name imo
Rylan - I know one, he's a big, really unattractive guy who likes to moon people... sooo it's not for me :) ESPECIALLY as a girls name.
Willow - This is beautiful, please use this one.
Ean - "Ian", and it's also for a boy imo

Middle Names:

Cyrus - a guy I lived with who had terrible BO = bad association
Patrick - really good middle name.
Morgan - I love it for a girl :)
Spencer - good middle name!
Wyatt - not for me at all.
Drew - pretty for boys and girls.
Lawrence - not for me.
Jude - not for me.
Ashton - I like.... for a boy.
Reese - I still think of peanut butter cups, hehe.
Marty - ew. An old, witchly woman I know.
Finn - I love it! how about "Finley"?
Jack - awesome!
Wilder - oh wow, no... why not use "Vance" or "Van" instead?
Montague - awful.

Milo is my favorite boys' name.

Milo (My – low) - for a pet!
Noah - adore
James - not my style
Oliver - love
Simon - like
Elijah - love!
Neville - don't understand. Sounds like a car.
Emery - it's ok.
Quinn - For a GIRL!
Liam - Like
Seamus (Shay – mus) - don't like

Girls:

Elliott - eek no!
Rylan - The only Ryan type name for a girl I like is Rylie.
Willow - too hippy, although the only name that is a girl's name here.
Ean - Give me a freakin' break.

Middle Names:

Cyrus - like
Patrick - great MN
Morgan - Like
Spencer - more of a first name to me
Wyatt - like a lot

I think you stole MY list! :D

Boys:
Theodore- This is cute, and not too typical.
Elliott- Love it, but I prefer it for a girl, spelled "Elliot".
Milo (My – low)- Again, a not so common name. I've had an obsession with this name lately. I love it!
Noah- LOVE it. Plan on naming my first son either this or Milo.
I also like Oliver, Elijah, Quinn and Liam

Girls:

Elliott- Like I mentioned above, I love it.
Rylan- Interesting. I think I'd like it better for a boy, but it's cute.
Willow- My favorite girl name at the moment.
Ean- For a girl? Hmm...never heard it for a girl :D

Theodore - One of my short list boy names. I just love, love, love the nn Theo.
Elliott - Nice
Milo - Nice
Noah - I don't care for this, but I do like the feminine version Noa, for a girl.
James - Nice if plain.
Oliver - Very trendy
Simon - Ok, a bit nerdy sounding to me.
Elijah - Too common for me, or I get that impression. I know several.
Neville - I don't like this at all.
Emery - Nice, kind of makes me think of nail files though.
Quinn - Nms.
Liam - Nice
Seamus - Nms but fine.

Elliott - Scrubs has not helped this masculine name seem even the slightest bit feminine to me. I really don't think it's a good girl name at all.
Rylan - Contrived
Willow - Ok, but very passive and meek sounding to me.
Ean - No

I'll be honest and say I'm not a fan of any of your girls names, but then again I'm prone to like girly names for girls. Your boys names are pretty nice however!

Seeing as you like Theodore, how about:
Theodore Finn
Theodore Wyatt
Theodore Spencer
Theodore Milo

Birte is an interesting name, was she of German/Dutch descent?

[identity profile] museofmyself.livejournal.com 2006-05-15 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Boys:
Theodore: Love it. Especially the nn Teddy.
Elliott: This has really grown on me.
Milo (My – low): Sorry, I've never liked it.
Noah: I used to like it, but it's a bit boring to me now.
James: Okay, but again, but a bit boring.
Oliver: Love it!
Simon: Love it!
Elijah: Nms.
Neville: Nmsaa.
Emery: Hmm, interesting. It could grow on me.
Quinn: I think I prefer it for a girl, actually.
Liam: Nms.
Seamus (Shay – mus): Not bad, if I could only get over the "shame" part of it.

Girls:
Elliott: I don't like it for a girl.
Rylan: Nmsaa.
Willow: Love it.
Ean: Nmsaa.

Middle Names:
Cyrus: Love it.
Patrick: Boring to me.
Morgan: I prefer it for a girl.
Spencer: Like it.
Wyatt: Okay.
Drew: Nmsaa.
Lawrence: Nmsaa.
Jude: Nmsaa.
Ashton: Nmsaa.
Reese: Nmsaa.
Marty: Nmsaa.
Finn: Love it.
Jack: This would have been my daughter's name if she'd been a boy. Still love it.
Wilder: Nice!
Montague: Hmmmm...interesting for a middle name.

You have some great names here! :)

[identity profile] glitterberrys.livejournal.com 2006-05-15 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I love most of your names! My favorites are Noah, James, Liam, Seamus, Patrick, Spencer, Wyatt, Jude, Jack and Finn. But I like most of your boys' names. None of the girls' names are my style, though, except for Willow.

I will never be able to shake the image of a not-so-cute little person dude with a stick when I hear Willow. Not the image you want to portray with a little girl.

Im the opposite, I love girl's names!

i really love all of your boys names, except emery and neville. blech.

oliver is one of my top two favorite boys names. all the others are great too though.

i dont like any of your girls names. well, i like elliott of course, but im on the fence about it being a girls name.

as for the middle names, i like cyrus, jude, finn (another favorite of mine, but for a girl), jack and wilder. but they all depend on what the first name is.

I like all your boy names except for Simon and Seamus.
But I prefer Milo pronounced as 'Mee-lo'.

As for your girl names the only one I like is Elliott.
I think it's a cute idea for a girl even though I would probably never use it.

[identity profile] ciara-belle.livejournal.com 2006-05-15 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I like all of your boy names except Milo, Emery and Quinn.

The girls...ick. Sorry, I don't like any of those names. Willow is ok, but I'm not a huge fan.

For the middle names, I like Patrick and Lawrence.
