I still have a long time to pick, but I want some opinions.
I like the name Addison for a girl, do you think it's too fruity for a boys name? My fiance says it's "gay" sounding.
What are some good shortforms for Addison?

Also, Which spelling do you like for Zach? Zack, Zak? I always liked Zak but after being here I'm starting to think it's trying to sound cool, hah.
My fiances last name is Storozuk.
Zak Storozuk? It looks and sounds weird, right?

EDIT-
NO It will not be just Zach/Zack, those would be the nn's.
Most people get called the shortened form more often than their full name.

Am I over analyzing?
Thanks!

why not go Zachary Storozuk and call him Zak. that way, it looks less weird?

also, i do think its too foofy for a boy's name. mostly because i think addison and i think grey's anatomy. i have always liked Addie as a nm for addison or adelaide

Addie would be a good short name.

I don't think Addison is 'gay' sounding (dear God), but it is used on girls way more often than it's used on boys, so he would probably be mistaken for a girl on paperwork, etc. Honestly, I think Addison is a terrible name for a boy or a girl. It's the epitome of trendiness. It's also the name of a disease.

Zach, as a nickname for Zachary, is good, but Zachary/Zach Storozuk is kind of a mouthful.

The only Addison I've ever known was a boy. However, he spelled it Adyson. And he was born in 1987, his mother was so ahead of her time.

Um, names can't be "gay."

Addison is a boy's name. People have suddenly decided to use it on girls, but it is awful sounding on them. I hate it on boys, too, but it is marginally better. I mean, seriously. Probably one of the trendiest names ever right now.

Zach or Zack is the right spelling. Zak looks way too creative and definitely trying too hard to look cool. It definitely looks and sounds weird with your fiance's last name.

I do think that Addison is a bit too feminine for a boy, just because ever since I heard it, I always thought it was only a girl's name. It just sounds so girly to me.

And I prefer Zac.

I like Zac or Zach for Zachary.

Addison these days is a girl's name, for whatever reason, so I'd say no on a boy.

Addison is a girl's name. Period. What about Adam for a boy? or Adams?

I like Zach as short for Zachary. Zak Storozuk has both names ending with "Ks" which makes it look kind of odd. I think I like Adams Storozuk best. :)

On the "names are gay" things, I think your main concern should be educating your fiance/friends about how names don't have a sexual preference, not worrying about your child being made fun of, at this point. Personally, I would not tolerate that attitude among my friends and certainly not from someone I was going to be raising a child with.

As to your names, I really dislike Addison because it sounds masculine to me and is, as others have said, very trendy right now. I would not use Zack or a variation of it as a given name. Name him Zachary and call him Zach/Zack/Zak (I dislike Zak because it looks too kr8tv, but the other two are fine). Zachary sounds a lot better with the last name and will give him a more "grown-up" name to go by when he's an adult.

Suggestions:

Ava
Abigail (nn Abby?)
Olivia
Sidney
Ella
Chloe
Charlotte
Sadie

Zeke
Isaac
Lucas
Landon
Caleb
Nathan
Simon
Jeremey

Addison really sucks, for both girls and boys. It's mainly used by trendy soccer moms with no imagination whatsoever trying to be 'unique' but failing miserably. And like its ugly twin sister Madison, it also became popular because of a fictional character.

If you like the nn Addie, I would go with Adelaide, Adeline, Adele, Adina, Ada, etc.

I prefer Zachary but I've never really been a fan of Zack. I find it kinda dated.

My finacee's middle name is Addison, but I think there are too many girls being named it to give it to a boy now.

I work at a daycare, and between my room and the one next to ours there about 30 kids... three are named Addison (okay, two are girls named Addison, and one is a boy who looks like a girl named Attison, but still).

I don't like either name, but Addison strikes me as sort of shallow, just a tryndy label for a baby. And Zak Storozuk is Z/K overload, and yes, does sound like you're trying too hard.

Having said that, neither is BAD bad, celebrity bad. But you need to be careful with an unusual surname, and I'd go for a more traditional first name, and one which doesn't emphasize the Z/K thing, to balance it out.

In my opinion:
1. A name cannot be 'gay' and even so this should be a non-issue.
2. Addison is more masculine than feminine.

I like Zach if its a nn for zachary and zack if its the full name.
I've only ever known male Addison's. i think its nice for a girl but i like it better for a boy, the only two i ever knew were very nice guys, which is a good sign i think, when everyone i know with a certain name is nice.

Please don't name your GIRL AddiSON. Adelaide is a lovely alternative. Perhaps Adele, too? I don't think it's a good name for either sex: surname, boy turned girl name (shown by the -son, which is just awful for a girl), trendy, will be terribly dated soon (think Edna, Bertha and Egbert, Janice and more recently, Tiffany, Amanda, Ashley, etc.). I really dislike Addie, for a nickname. It sounds to me trashy and harsh, much like Addison! Adele and Adelaide Storozuk sounds nice.

Just Zach/Zack/Zak? Yuck. Zachary nicknamed one of those. Then, he can be taken seriously even though Zachary Storozuk sounds kind of awkward (but Zac/whatever Storozuk sounds more awkward).
