see im the oppisite. I just figure if I want my kid called something besides their full name, I'd just name them that.. but thats me. :) and thats exactly how I feel about his name, cute & still masculine
I agree with you in the way that if i liked the name Libby I wouldnt use Elizabeth for the sake of it.. but I like short terms of endearment so i'm not fond of one syllable names... Like, Sophy becomes Soph, Emma becomes Em- affectionate nicknames! (i'm not sure that makes sense to anyone but myself!)
yeah that makes sense. I wouldn't name a child "Soph" or "Em" either, lol. but Im saying like, well using your example of Elizabeth and libby, when people say "I like the name Elizabeth, nickname Libby" then its like why don't you just name her Libby?
cade used to be my favorite name and i was deadset on using it for my first son, but then it got so so popular (along with the jaydens, aidans, haydens, etc.) :(
I think it's a very nice name :) I personally wouldn't use it... but I have cousins named Jayden & Kayden (brothers... yah, I know.), and it's a bit too common for my tastes.
im not a nickname fan.. I dont know why. i feel like if i wanted people to call you "sam" (for samantha) I'd just have named the kid Sam. ya know? but thats just me.
That's funny, my parents are the same way. They named us all so our names couldn't be shortened, with the exception of me. We're Colleen, Carrie & Catherine (Cathy). My Dad actually uses Sam as his example too :)
Kade has become sooooooo popular. I like(d) it when I didnt hear it as much. But Ella wasnt popular when I went with it either LOL. But anyway,I think Kade Michael is VERY nice. Sometimes a "bland" Middle name just makes it stronger.
If this baby (points to tummy) is a boy his name will be Garrick Michael (Michael is my fiance's middle name)
I didnt know that it was. Ive only heard of one other Kade and he's like 25. We've had it picked out for years though, which is why we stuck with it. and I agree, I like bland middle names. you dont get stuck on the creative middle name congrats on the baby, is it your first?
I like the name Cade and not many people will be saying the two names together much anyways. That said, Cayden Michael seems to flow better, rather than the hard stop for Cade.
see.. i would agree, but we had it picked out like three years ago and i'd only heard it once.. but I also dont know when the whole fad started with those names..
I think that trend is more recent than 3 years. Last year or two is when the Aidan/Jayden crap really exploded. I think Kade is different enough to get away with, I'd just be worried about it blowing up too.
I thought it was kinda manly..everyone says its part of the Caden/jayden/etc fad but I had it picked out before that.. like three years ago when I was like 16
I don't like Kade. I think Michael is quite nice. It'll be uncommon by the time your kid is 5 the way names are these days. It'll be a relief to hear a "bland" name over a crazy name (for the kids who get them as first names..though it'll be few).
I'm not a fan of Kade. I think it sounds a little "made up." For me a big part of names is having other people, from history and literature, who share your name. I feel like it shapes your identity. I am Catherine and I am one among various Queens, Empresses, and literary characters. I just think Kade seems a little lonely because no one else has the name.
Also, I feel like it may become really trendy and in 20 years it will sound relatively dated, like Jennifer and Tiffany. When you think of those names you think of the 1970s-80s. You dont have to worry about that with a timeless name.

Michael is also my brother's middle name. I like it.
I'm not such a big fan of Kade, but I respect that the name is popular because people disagree with me. I just don't like the trendy names.
