Date: 2006-02-14 02:13 pm (UTC)Your phonetic rendering is odd - 'ea' is not an 'a' in 'heaven', so you would be meaning "keh-veh-naw" in your example, which is not how the name is actually pronounced by its owners.

Date: 2006-02-14 02:30 pm (UTC)All the boy names sound literary.
I don't think any of those are a go for children, but yeah I agree with you, those are crazy!!

Date: 2006-02-14 02:54 pm (UTC)but yes, i'm also glad to hear you wouldn't use those ;)
Yes!
Date: 2006-02-14 03:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, I know my phonetic rendering is odd. I really wasn't sure about that one at all so I'm really sorry if it is missleading!

Date: 2006-02-14 03:55 pm (UTC)All I can say is that aside from Wilder, I'm happy to know you're not actually thinking of using these.
Re: Yes!
Date: 2006-02-14 03:58 pm (UTC)Your first language is German, isn't it? The a in Cavanagh (however spelled) is like the a in nach if you have an Irish accent, or the a in das if you're English. [This is assuming my German accent is good enough for you to get what I mean in both cases! It's nearly two years since I was last in Germany so I'm out of practice.]
*g*
Date: 2006-02-14 03:58 pm (UTC)Jupp!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:01 pm (UTC)*lol*
Date: 2006-02-14 04:02 pm (UTC)Re: Yes!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:06 pm (UTC)Well, German is my mothertongue, if that's what you mean. Second English, third French, fourth Spanish, possibly to be fifth, soon Swedish. Yeah, I think I got what you meant.

Date: 2006-02-14 04:07 pm (UTC)I know what you mean where you feel really drawn towards a name but know that you could NEVER actually use it. I had the same thing with Indigo for a boy, but it's a colour and everyone else seems to think of it as a girls name!
Asia sounds so lovely as name, such a shame that it's a place too!
I kinda like Peta, but I would probably pronoce it Pee-ta.
I have to admit I feel drawn to Midnight, but more as a boys name than a girls name.
Pharic is so similar to the word phallic!

Date: 2006-02-14 04:09 pm (UTC)That's a word!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:14 pm (UTC)And no, Skara-Brae isn't made up at all (see above). It's a small ancient village at the coast of (I think it was). And Fiyero isn't like Figaro. The emphasis in Figaro lays on the 'Fi', not on the 'ga'.
You'll laughe, but I actually heard Franjean on a guy. Okay, in a fantasy-movie, but anyway...! :-P And why not Capulet? Well, simply because I think Montague sounds MUCH better! xD
Gee!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:17 pm (UTC)Hee, cool!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:19 pm (UTC)No, actually...
Date: 2006-02-14 04:20 pm (UTC)Thanks!
Date: 2006-02-14 04:24 pm (UTC)Yeah, Asia is really nice. And I admit, I'd also pronounce Peta like PEE-ta. I just wasn't sure if I offended anybody with the 'pee'...! :-P Anyway, I like it, too of course! *lol*

Date: 2006-02-14 05:47 pm (UTC)Midnight - Great name for a panther; just not a name for a person
Peta - Not my style but an ok name
Raven - Nah. I know people use this but it doesn't seem right.
Skara-Brae - For some reason I read this as Skara-bunny. I'm too tired! But now that I've read it properly; no.
BOYS:
Kellen - Sounds pretty good
Montague - Alright, can't remember where I've heard it before though
Orpheus - Matrix
Pharic - Reminds me too much of phallic

Date: 2006-02-15 01:47 am (UTC)Peta & Raven - are what my mum would call hippy names, but the people i know with the names make the names ok.

Date: 2006-02-15 06:09 am (UTC)Hee hee!
Date: 2006-02-15 06:13 am (UTC)Maybe you've heard the name Montague from "Romeo & Juliet", for that's where I got it from. There it's actually a surename...! ;-) And Matrix would be Morpheus, not Orpheus, but yeah, somehow you're right. *lol*
At least!
Date: 2006-02-15 06:14 am (UTC);-)
Date: 2006-02-15 06:16 am (UTC)Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts! :-)

Date: 2006-02-16 06:12 pm (UTC)The boys are a bit more acceptable. I like Hawthorne and Montague. I love Orpheus and Fiero but would never use them. The rest are a bit too out there.
Ah!
Date: 2006-02-17 06:09 am (UTC)And again, I would hardly use any of those names anyway. Not even as a mn (except for Peta maybe...!). ;-)
