Crazy names

Date: 2006-02-14 02:13 pm (UTC)Your phonetic rendering is odd - 'ea' is not an 'a' in 'heaven', so you would be meaning "keh-veh-naw" in your example, which is not how the name is actually pronounced by its owners.

Date: 2006-02-14 03:58 pm (UTC)Your first language is German, isn't it? The a in Cavanagh (however spelled) is like the a in nach if you have an Irish accent, or the a in das if you're English. [This is assuming my German accent is good enough for you to get what I mean in both cases! It's nearly two years since I was last in Germany so I'm out of practice.]
