I'm not, no. It sort of annoys me. Aiden is still going to be Aiden whether you add 4 y's and an extra e, you know? all it ends up doing is butchering the spelling so the kid will have to go around correcting it for the rest of his life. I know some people think altering the spelling will create a new unique name, but all it ends up doing is causing the child confusion the rest of his/her life. Just my Opinion, though.

I added an Ha* to the end of the name picked out for a girl.. Alizaha i think it's pretty and since thats the name I have to call my daughter for the rest of her life then I don't care what other people say or what other peoples opnions are.. like i would never name my child somethingl ike beth or susan.. ya know.. and other poeple like them.. So do what you like =)

I like Jessalyn. It's unique and special. :)

I'm all for creating new names, but I absolutely loathe the "kreativ" spellings. I think what you did with Jessenia is okay though. The stuff I don't like is for example, Maddisyn, Kymberleigh, Kennidee, Allivea, etc.

I think it depends. There are lots of spellings for Katherine/Catherine/Kathryn or Kaitlyn/Caitlin, so you can do what you like. I don't mind something like Ashleigh, even. (Or Megann, but not Meaghanne.) Telling someone "with 2 n's" isn't a problem. But some of them, like Mashel, Vinessah, Malyssa, etc get kind fo out of control. Like someone said above, the kid will constantly be correcting people on how to spell his or her name. My name is Meredith, which people inevitably spell wrong anyway. I once met someone named Meredythe, and someone named Meridith. Now, if the regular spelling tends to escape people, why would you do that?

If we ever have a second daughter, her name will be Haleigh instead of Haley/Haylee/etc. The Leigh comes from my middle name. I really only like spelling changes for reasons such as that: to incorporate a family name of some kind.

No ... I think that giving your child a name that requires phoenetical symbols is kind of mean. Plus, you would have the constant annoyance of having people misspell and mispronounce the name.

Unusual names can be good, but creative and strange spellings can sometimes push things over the top.

Made up names can go either way. Some of them come out beautiful, others come out horrible. It all depends on the name.

As for creatively spelling a name... some people go too far. Substituting a K for a C is one thing, but changing half the vowels to Ys just looks like a 13 year old named the child. It becomes a pain for the child later on in life and it makes a lot of people assume that the parents were uneducated.

i am a victim of creative spelling. i have to spell my name out all of the time. and at places like restaurants, starbucks, pizza orders, i give a fake name just to avoid my confusion. and it is also upsetting when you are a kid, and the gift shop never has the pencils/mugs/etc with YOUR name.
