So I've been watching a lot of 'Dead Like Me' lately; the main character's name is Georgia, nn George.  I've never been fond of the name George, esp. on a girl... though, come to think of it, in the original Nancy Drew novels, one of her girl friends was called George, and I think I liked it then, when I was younger.   I've never really liked state names ((Virginia, Dakota, etc.)) on people either, although they might have started out as people names ((I honestly wouldn't know, but that's what I assume)).

However, Georgia, and George ((for a girl)), have grown on me, so much that I feel it may make an appearance on my top 20 list.  Georgia feels classic and elegant to me, very stately ((no pun intended...)) with a rather timeless charm; also, I've always been a big unisex name person and have come to like the idea of a girl named George ((maybe it's just the tv show)).

So, anyway, I was curious what ya'll thought.

Bonus question: ^ ^  Her sister's name is Reggie.  They never say if it's a nickname or not.  I don't really like it at all.  WDYT?

Ah, I loved Dead Like Me!

I was never fond of Georgia, Or George either, but it really suited her, and I love it now.

I like Reggie better than Regina - but its still pretty awful.

I've always quite liked Georgia. A girl at my school was called Georgia, and she went by Georgie, which I thought was kinda cute.

Georgia is one of my top names. A few years ago, I saw John Hubbley's "Cockaboody" short, featuring his daughters Georgia and Emily. At one point, he captured Georgia singing "Georgie Porgie" to herself and it was almost too cute to exist. Before that, I had always thought of Georgia as a no-nickname name, but I think now that I'd probably end up going with Georgie if I were feeling playful.

I wouldn't name a human girl George (or a boy, actually), but I've always wanted to get a female cat and call her George.

I've always liked the name Georgia for a girl with the nickname George, back from Nancy Drew (although George wasn't a nickname then; her parents though she was going to be a boy and had no girl names picked out). I liked it even more when Dead Like Me came out. Its definitely the top name on my list.

Reggie is short for Regina. I believe there's an episode where Joy is yelling at her and calls her Regina instead of Reggie.

I LOVE Dead Like Me!
I'm not a huge fan of the name Georgia though George definitely suits her well. I like the nn Gigi better though for my own purposes but she was DEFINITELY not a Gigi.

First of all, love that show so much.
While I usually detest the name George/Georgia I really like it on the character in the show. It just suits her.

I like Reggie. I think it's different, but kind of cute. I always thought that George was a cool name, reading Nancy Drew. And I like Georgia too.

anywho, the episode i'm talking about it Season 2, Episode 15: "Send in the Clown" ~ *awesome mason moments*

MASON: There you go Emily
gives her a balloon shaped like a penis
EMILY: This isn't a bunny rabbit
MASON: Yes, there are the ears
EMILY: What is it really?
RUBE: Go ask your mother
as she leaves Mason pats her on the head
BOY: I want a bunny rabbit balloon like Emily's
MASON: I bet you do sweetheart

Mason staring at a mother's back side. She is wearing a thong & has a tattoo on her lower back
MASON: Bloody Hell. I do believe that is a chinese symbol for "aim here"
RUBE: Wow.
looks over to see other mother's looking disgusted
I find that comment vile and contemptable, now say you're sorry
MASON: I'm sorry Rube, I'm sorry that youre a hundred years old and
will never get to spank that
puts his toungue out in a very rude way. the two women with their arms crossed, shake their heads and walk off
MASON: Waah-waah
honks his clown nose
