dolcedaze thinks the extra H is better, because its more common, but I think its quite the opposite.
I'd rather my daughter have a name spelled uniquely (which it is) rather than the normal way that most girls will have.
Does that make any sense, or am I rambling?

Yeah. Of course that's it.
Delanie is NOT that hard to spell.
In fact, I went to school with a Delaney, and even she had her name misspelled.
Its like Haley. You can spell that way many different ways.
None are "wrong" or "right," they are just different.

No, Delanie is not hard to spell... But it is the idea that most people will spell it Delaney and she will always be correcting it.

Elyssa is not hard to spell or say, but I've been correcting myself my whole life every time I met someone new. Elissa? Elisa? =\ It is so annoying.

So I agree... Go with the more popular.

I prefer Sarah with an H because it just looks more complete. Sara just looks... Eh.

yeah, honestly, this 'unique spelling' shit is getting to me in a personal way.

Lorelei is the original, established spelling of the name, as far as i know. but because of all these people being like 'lolol Lorelai/Loralie/Laureli!11111' no-one can spell my damn name. i mean, if you've never heard the name, you'll have trouble of course, but MOST of them have heard it... and spell it in the 'kre8tiiv' way.

erghhhhh sorry bad mood, nothing personal against anyone... just rambling hahaha.

I see what you're saying, but here's my take on it- I like unique names, too, and I like to stay away from names that are in the top 1000 at all, but I'd rather a name be unique on its own, not because of an uncommon spelling. With Sarah/Sara it's not quite as important, since both are pretty common, but my name is Emily, and although I'd love to have a name that was much less common, I can't imagine what a pain it would be if my parents had spelled it "Emmalee" or something just for the sake of being different.

Meh - I think it's just a pain to have to correct people. It's still the same name. If there are four girls named Madison in her class, they'd still be called Madison B, Madison S. etc. It doesn't matter if they use different spellings.

You set your child up for a lifetime of correcting people by doing that.
