My middle name is Maureen, and I've never really liked it.

I came across the name "Maurine" last night, which I personally liked a lot more. I never saw it anywhere before.

However the more I looked at it, the more I saw "ma-urine"...which is far less than pleasant.

...aaaaand that kind of ruined it for me.

I was really happy and excited when I found it, and I really just wilted when it dawned on me what else it said.

I've always tried to think of ways to shorten Maureen into something I liked more. And all I've really come up with was "Mo" ...lol. Not quite what I was looking for either. Thank god I love my first name!

I actually like the name Maureen.
I don't mmind it spelt as Muireen either - pronounced exactly the same.

Also spelt as Maurine... nope, don't like it spelt that way.

Muireen is new to me. Makes me think of Muir Woods in California. I wouldn't be compelled to pronounce it the same if I saw it....something more along the lines of mür-EEN is what I think of.

Really? That gives me hope! But then again, I'm usually pretty oblivious to connotations like that, and I noticed it all on my own.. But otherwise I thought it was really pretty spelled that way.
