Date: 2005-12-20 06:10 am (UTC)I will always think of a boy riding on a huge hairy dragon/dog thing when I hear Atreyu. I don't think it was a name before the Never Ending Story, and I'm not much for movie names.

the name Atreyu in the book names "everyones Son" which i thought was nice

Date: 2005-12-20 07:12 am (UTC)I watched the movie before I read the book, and in the movie it's him who rides on that dragon thing, so that is the image I always have in my head. Bastian could be short for Sebastian, if you wanted to use it.

I've never heard of the "quite popular" band Atreyu.
With that said, I don't like the name because I have no idea how to pronounce it.
