My brother and SIL are going to be welcoming a new nephew within the next week. The parents are naming him Tobyahs. What's the general preferred spelling on this? I hate this spelling personally although I like the name Tobias/Toby. :)

Sorry for posting a few times in the last day but I only refound this community and am rather excited about it. :)

I've reaslised thers a trend with my family go by middle names rather than their first names.

I was curious if anyone else's family is like that.

I'm Alana Kim and go by Kim with all my family and Lani by my friends.

My cousin Robert Regan goes by Regan.

My Grandmar Agnes Helen goes by Helen or usually Nessie.

Longer version of Eva

I really like the name Eva but I think it's too short. So I'm looking for a longer version that would use Eva as a nickname. The only one I can think of is Evalyn which I'm not a huge fan of.

Any ideas?

Names for a character

I currently need a name for a character... Here are some specs on the family she'll be surrounded by:

*Her dad has never been called by his real name, he got the nickname Guzzi when he was around 5 and always uses that.

*Her mom is named Mary

*She'll have a half brother, much older (20 years) names Tristan on her mother's side

*Guzzi has been in the music scene from a young age and is best friends and, now, guard to a rock star since they were about 6 and 7

Now... he is the best friend and guard for this rock musician so he has been around the crazy rock star likes all his life (he's in his mid 40's now) and I want that influence him naming the little girl so no Elizabeth's, Mary's, Isabelle's etc.

I have some options and seeing as this is his first child and it's a girl he's probably going to be leaning toward names with sweeter meanings but still out of the ordinary.

Ione - Violet Flower
Lani - Heaven
Vera - Faith/Truth
Phoebe - Light
Isolde - Ice (though the true meaning is unknown)
Ninako - Beautiful child

I had originally gone for Lani Beatrice, since his mom's name was Beatrice and she died when he was younger but I am really liking Isolde and Ione.

I sort of like Lani Isolde and Lani Ione but I am not sure...

Help? Suggestions?

middle names for top 5

when baseball is on and my husband is glued to the tv, I get bored. So I will take my names from the top 5 list and find some middle names.

Nathaniel Eric (Eric is my dad's middle name)
Warren Alexander (Warren is my husband's father's name- I just always thought it was neat)
Jack - This one stumps me. I would totally use the name Jack just as it is (not as a nickname for John) but I can't really find a good middle name. Any ideas?

Owen - I like Owen with Alexander, too. I probably would not use Owen though, as my step brother just named his son Dominic Owen :) Oh well. I'm still including it in my favorite's list since I am not really naming anything seriously at this time.

top 5 girls:
Valentina May (May is my grandmother's name. She passed away. She would get the biggest thrill if she ever knew I named someone after her. She is Swedish, so her given name was actually Maj-Britt or something, but she changed it to May when she came to America.)
Victoria May (yeah, I've pretty much decided on May for a middle name)
I used to really like Victoria Jade, but I think I like May better.
Willa- Willa could go with May, I suppose, but I'm not feeling it as much as the other two names paired with May. Ideas?
Ava Madeline or Ava Christine (Christine is my best friend)
Isla I suppose May could go with this, too but I'd love to hear some others. Isla is a new addition.

Adelaide, Alma, Micah, and Landon were just short of the top 5. I used to love Landon, but I'm on the fence with it anymore. For some reason I'm starting to feel it belongs with the Aidens and Jaydens.

Current favorite boy's name: Graham

How would you pronounce it? I think Americans pronounce it like "gram" but the one Graham I went to school with in western Canada pronounced it like GREY-em. Both are all right, I guess, but I can't decide which I prefer. Thoughts?
