Shei

Wdyt? It's pronounced "Shay," and I think of it as a girl's name, although I guess it could be either/or.

I was at a youth group lock-in at a church last weekend and met a girl named Kaianne, pronounced Ky-Anne. WDYT?

Births

Birth announcements for the local hospital (in small-town Illinois). Names I like have asterisks; especially ridiculous ones are marked with an exclamation point. There are a few real "gems."

These are from the same hospital that brought you such gems as Bladyn, Aadi, Koufax, Nova, and Xaview.

I know I just posted birth announcements earlier, but I work at a newspaper and we just got a list of local students who achieved perfect attendance, so I figured I'd share.

These kids are in grades 6-8. All (including siblings) were born between 1993 and 1996.

There's a girl in my mom's class (she teaches fourth grade) named Brelyn pronounced Bray-Lynne. WDYT? I think it's quite awful. My mom called her Bree-lynne for like the first two weeks of school and the kid had to correct her.

There was an article in a local paper a couple of days ago about the first babies born in the city in the new year. One was a little boy named:

Deejay

His surname was Badger. Deejay Badger.

Poor kid.

Hey all!

I'm undertaking a new project and I need names for fairies!

I need any names (feel free to give me long lists!) that you feel

- are elegant/pretty kind of names that would be pretty on fairies
- are cutesy or alliterative

Pretty much anything that you fits a fairy and/or would be cute! Be creative and thanks so much!

Edited to add...

This is my list of possibilities, etc. so far. Thanks so much for all contributions thus far!

So far... )

I've seen loads of families listed here so I thought I'd do a post about  my own family. These are all the names from my mother's side of the family.
I'm leaving middle names out because some of them are too weird for my own liking.

Please let me know what you think.

what is the strangest/ most unique/ least heard of name for a boy that you have heard?
Did you like it or not?

Edit: guilty pleasure for a boy name?

On Project Runway one of the contestants was talking about her daughter and she said her name was (and this is how it's pronounced) Kah-ly-uh-pee. How would you spell that? I think it's pretty but it's a little much for me.

Also my mom's friend just had a daughter: Ava Grace. Plain but cute.
