Grace for a boy, and I loved it! He was such a sweet little boy and not girlish at all. The mother said to me, "when you think about it, is Grace exclusively a girl trait?" It makes sense in an odd way. xD

His older brother was Bravery.

Aww yeah, they were the most adorable little brothers (when people asked Grace why he had a girl's name he used to say "my mummy named me Grace 'cause I'm amazing!"). They had a sister, but I don't think her name was of the same style.

lol, there was a Baxter at the daycare I used to work at and none of us could figure out why his parents named him a dog so clearly suited for a basset hound.

We called him Baxipad.

I wondered why his parents would name him something? And that's rude? You can honestly tell me that you've never, ever seen a name on this and thought "Now why the hell would someone name their kid that?"

You're a saint. I admire your compassion for others in the face of terrible names.

It's not an insult, sunshine. It's what his parents called him and so we followed suit sometimes. Not all nicknames are insults. My parents called me Jess the Mess all the time. It wasn't an insult.

I'll just repeat what I said before.

It's a nickname. Not an insult.

I'm not sure I could say. I've heard a lot of weird ones.

Guilty pleasure names for boys: Ptolemy, Jean-Baptiste, Ignatius.

Ptolemy is pronounced like 'TALL-uh-mee'. I'm a history geek, so I'm constantly coming across these names that I think are awesome, but could never use. Maybe as middle names. Ptolemy is the one one I really love, though. Plus, it has good connotations, because it was a character in one of my favourite books, aside from the fact that I love the sound of it...

Oh man, I could, but we'd be here all night! behindthename.com has a good list of historical names HERE (http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/hist.php). If you like Ptolemy, you might like other Greek names, so behindthename.com's list of Ancient Greek names is HERE (http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/gre-anci.php).

Strangest: It's a tie between Monoxide and De'Love O'Christ, both of which were actual babies discussed in this community. I don't think I even need to answer the "Did you like it or not?" question.

My guilty pleasure boy name is Jesper.

I think I like Jesper. It reminds me of jasper and vesper and jester all at once.

Guys I've known:
Quiet (no last name at the request of the parents, who also had "single" names"
Crew
Kristen
Michelangelo
Arson (it is an Armenian name)

The least heard of name I've heard of is my son's Hebrew name - Amidor. It took a lot of google searching to find anyone else with the name and the latest historical person I could is back during the Crusades! I love it though - it means 'the people of my generation' which I felt was very fitting for our situation.

Also, Varian as in Varian Fry.

Guilty pleasure boy names: Wilfred, Ireneus, Varian/Varrick, and Artistides which I *love* but my husband dislikes.

that should be Aristides not Artistides.

Shelby, for a boy. I remember finding it very odd as a small child.
And Vivick was another weird boys name I heard.

Roban. He was called Robert Anthony, and his parents combined those two names into Roban.
I didn't really like it, but it suited him well.

Ephraim and Tinder are two of the more unusual names I've seen in use. Honestly, I really don't feel I see many creative boy names in my circle of friends. Ethans and Elijahs and Eliots and Henrys up the wazoo though.

As for me, my favorite name is one of the most unusual ones on my favorites list - Tavish. I fully intend to use it. Other uncommon ones I really like include Taj, Teo, Eliakim, Caius, and Brooks.

Oh, I forgot about this doozy. I was doing research the other day and came across a guy - first name Timber last name Dick. Timber Dick. I wish I was joking.

Erm I really can't think of any.
Actually where I work we got a little boy called Xander and I was really suprised because I'd only heard the name online and it seemed 'american' to me (I'm in England).
But apart from that, i really can't think of anything that suprised me.

Can't think of the weirdest, there have been plenty :) My guilty pleasure though, would be Brayden. I love the name to death, but could never use it. I'm OKAY with names being slightly popular, but there's too many braydens, aidens, cadens, jadens, hayden, etc for even ME.

Stefan (pronounced Stef-IN), Gareth, or Wesleen. I've only ever met/heard of one guy by each name. I like Gareth a lot and plan to use it (it's the name of my mom's cousin's son, but I've met them once in my life, so I think it's okay to use it), and I like the other two but not enough to ever use.

My guilty pleasure names are Sawyer and Tucker. I also like Thatcher and Atticus, which I plan to use with no guilt whatsoever:)

I know one Stefan, as well. He didn't like that he was constantly being called "Stephen." I work with a Garrett, not quite Gareth, but also the only one I've actually met. I actually like it a lot.

The strangest that came to mind is a boy I knew in fourth grade named Koolivarius. He was called Kool for short.

As for guilty pleasures, hmm...
-Braden (I've always liked it, and I usually don't mind when names I love turn super-popular, but now it's embarrassing that I like it)
-Drew (not as a nickname)
-Gilbert (old man name, but I love it because of Anne of Green Gables)
-Hank (not short for anything, just...Hank)
-Heydon (I first liked this name when I saw it in the credits for The Secret Garden when I was eleven; since it's become more popular, I'm starting to realize that "my" spelling would be considered strange)
-Orion (I don't care how popular it is, it's still weird to me)
-Sully (not even sure why I like it, as it's not my usual style)
-Vann (same as above)
-Walter (also old man's name, but another one I like because of the Anne series)
-Willem (seems like it should be off-limits to Americans, although in my defense, I am of Dutch heritage)

My boyfriends given name is Rebel. I didn't believe him of course when I first met him...

While working on my family tree, I found a second cousin by marriage, a boy of about 14, named "tully"

I love both names :)
