Oct. 21st, 2007 01:59 amdo you, or anyone you know, go by a nickname that is completely different than your/their real name?
for example: my cousin is named Carl Timothy lastname, but he has always been called Zeke. in fact, i didn't know his name wasn't Zeke until like five or so years ago haha.

Oct. 21st, 2007 01:03 pmSo i was talking to my boss yesterday about baby names. She told me she's pregnant, but i don't know if she's screwing with me or not... she does that sometimes. anyway, her favorite name for a boy is Tiberius. She would call him Tiber for short. I don't like the n/n so much, but Tiberius isn't that bad... her favorite girl names are Isadora, Penelope (but NOT Penny for a n/n) and Jezebel. I told her that if she named her daughter Jezebel, there were bound to be "whore jokes" for the rest of the poor childs life. WDYT?

Oct. 21st, 2007 03:07 pmI was reading a magazine yesterday and in it were three girls names I had never heard before (they weren't related or anything):
Mabby (not sure whether this is short for anything)
Luendy
Stanislassia
Thoughts?
I didn't like any of those.

Oct. 21st, 2007 04:15 pmHey, so, yeah... this is addictive =]
Vote on my name combos, and let me know if there are other combos you like, if you feel up to it, of course, haha.
I don't plan on having a child for at least another 2 years, but I do have a daughter, Cressa May Enri, if that makes a difference with sibset related issues =]
Thanks!

Oct. 21st, 2007 05:57 pmHere are the children of the most recent lot of parents with literacy problems:
( No actually some of them aren't THAT bad. )
ALSO - In the birthdays section I just noticed this name:
Mariclare
Eh? Has anyone seen this name before? It isn't intended to be new or trendy, because this person was turning 30!

Oct. 21st, 2007 06:49 pmOne of the comments in another post made me curious about this, so I made a poll. I'd appreciate it if you'd all fill it out - it's only two questions long. :)

Oct. 21st, 2007 08:28 pmWhat do you think about the name Laramie with the nickname Remy or Ramie?
I kinda like it..
I kinda like it..
I think this might be my new favourite boy name and was wondering what everyone in this community thought of: Joachim.
I heard it a lot in Norway, where I visited this summer, and apparently it is quite common there. It's really unusual in U.K. as far as I know; I haven't met any one here named that anyway. I don't know about the U.S.
It is pronounced like 'Yoa-chim', or maybe more like 'Wa-kim'. Babynamer tells me that it has hebrew origins and means "Founded by God." It's used in in German, English, French and Polish. I also like the variants Joaquin (Spanish) and Joaquim (Portuguese). And I quite like the nickname Joe, too.
Thoughts? Good? Bad? Do you like any of the variants more?
Thanks!

Oct. 21st, 2007 11:30 pmI had a customer today with the cutest baby girl in a stroller - but her name: Brady. Is this a unisex name now? I dislike it on a boy because I can't imagine an adult Brady, but on a girl it seems even worse.
WDYT?
