I thought it would be interesting to compare the top 20 list from 1880 to the popularity list of 2005.

The name is from the 1880 listing the number next to is the rank from 2005.

I'm not pregnant yet...not even trying at the moment but my husband and I were discussing names last night. We have another boy name already picked so that's not a problem. But. we'd like to name our next girl (if we have another girl) after my parents and a really good friend of the family.
The problem is that my parents have horrible names! My mom is Cheryl Jean, my dad is Hermon Lee. So I was thinking Janelle-a combination of the letters from their middle names. And the friend of the family is Elizabeth. Neither of us like Elizabeth that much, so we were thinking Eliza...of course we could use Elizabeth and Eliza as a nn.

so my question is which combination sounds best? or do you have other suggestions using these names?
oh, and the kids i have now are Tristan and Skye..so we'd like a combo that sounds ok with the other kids.

I am in love with most of this list. I may get to use some of them come time to have children as my SO is part French.

What do you think?

4 family friends recently gave birth (the last one was today) so i thought i'd share them...

Alice Grace- I'm not especially fond of either name, but i think they sound gorgeous together.

Beau Olivier- French connections, obviously! This is very very very cute, Beau is a cool name too, i think it will work well until he's about 25.. and begins to age... i guess he could go by Olivier when he's older but we're in England, not France... and it's bound to be pronounced Oliver..

Ava Lucy Rebecca- Bit long, and yet another Ava to add to the growing number...(grr) I don't like Lucy, and especially not Rebecca but altogether it sounds nice and sophisticated.

Lia Jane- I love it, but i prefer it as a nickname for Amelia/Ophelia as I don't really like Leigh as a nn... Also, if it's just plain Lia i prefer it Leah. But this was a nice surprise as the mother is only 15 (gaahhh) and knowing her as well as i do, Leah was almost a Mackenzie/Brooklynn/Madalynn. It was so hard to keep my mmouth shut when she was talking baby names!!
