I went to the theatres to see the Golden Compass yesterday, and knowing me, I found another name that intrigues me slightly.

What do you guys think of the name Lyra? I think I like it more in theory, than in actuality.

in english, yes, it's marks and franks :)
oh right, so in english too they're both currencies and names!
Hadn't thought of it! haha

the italian names, however, are Marco and Franco, while 'il marco' and 'il franco' (marchi and franchi plural) are the currencies

Oh I see, well I learnt something new!

I doubt it would matter anymore though, considering France, germany and Italy now use the Euro.
Most kids growing up now would never have heard of the old currency.
