so... i went back to my list of names and i know it may be nothing - but it may be everything. lol who knows!!!

i love Asher as well, but the shortened nickname would be 'Ash' and then i think of pokemon. :\ lol

if i use Asher i may find another middle name i like with it... what would be your suggestion/s? i'd like to stick with irish/celtic/gaelic related names b/c thats mine and my bf's heritage. but i'm open to english or germanic ones as well. *i'm part german as well*

see, before your post i didn't even know dolly had a song called that. i'd heard the name once before and then about a month ago fell in love with this artist - Ray LaMontagne - and he has a song by that name that's beyond beautiful. :)

and spellings aren't negotiable right now. lol. mostly b/c ppl always try and convince me Nathanael is wrong. but it's the original biblical spelling so i keep it. :D

I like Nathanael, but Gaige is just...blah. It looks like a feminine spelling of the name, it's not spelled correctly, and the i just looks unnecessary.

I like the song Jolene, but Jolene is the woman that's sleeping with her husband in the song, so I doubt you want that association, haha. It's a pretty famous song, too.

There's a character named Ash in Pokemon? Huh. Didn't know that! I don't think it would matter, though, because it's not a reference that, like, 85% of the population would get. Hardly anyone I know pays any attention to Pokemon, and I work in the school district and even fewer kids pay any attention to it anymore. They've moved on to other things. Besides, I think it's just really confusing if you name your child one thing but call him by his middle name. Asher probably won't get shorten that often, and if it does, Ash is more of a "sometimes" nickname. It's not like Mike for Michael, it's more like, well...for lack of a better example, my name is Lindsay, and people call me Linds on occassion. But, it's not a name that is used in place of my given one. It's more like when people are in a hurry, they shorten it, but I still write "Lindsay" on papers and that's what 95% of people call me. I think Ash/Asher is more like that than like Mike/Michael or Matt/Matthew.

Truthfully, it looks like a Brayden/Kayden/Jayden version of Logan. I mean, it sounds okay, but I can't picture Rogan actually working on a kid, and I have an even harder time picturing a lawyer or a doctor or a politician named Rogan.

well, both are irish/gaelic.

but logan means 'hollow' *i don't like the meaning*

whereas Rogan means, 'fire-haired' or 'red haired'

and i knew a business man named Rogan and it suited him. granted he was from Ireland lol
