Date: 2007-12-24 04:27 am (UTC)I like Vivienne and Elizabeth, too, but Catherine Amara is stunning. Abigail is overused, Jolene reminds me of the Dolly Parton song (and sounds really redneck-ish), and I don't like Layla at all.
I'm not a fan of Gage, especially spelled Gaige, but I know you said spellings aren't negotiable.

Date: 2007-12-24 05:11 pm (UTC)if i use Asher i may find another middle name i like with it... what would be your suggestion/s? i'd like to stick with irish/celtic/gaelic related names b/c thats mine and my bf's heritage. but i'm open to english or germanic ones as well. *i'm part german as well*
see, before your post i didn't even know dolly had a song called that. i'd heard the name once before and then about a month ago fell in love with this artist - Ray LaMontagne - and he has a song by that name that's beyond beautiful. :)
and spellings aren't negotiable right now. lol. mostly b/c ppl always try and convince me Nathanael is wrong. but it's the original biblical spelling so i keep it. :D
ty for your opinions btw.

Date: 2007-12-24 05:14 pm (UTC)as for Roisin and Jolene - The first is one of my favorite gaelic girl names. and the other i recently re-discovered due to a song by Ray LaMontagne.
but ty for your opinions. :D

Date: 2007-12-24 05:44 pm (UTC)I like the song Jolene, but Jolene is the woman that's sleeping with her husband in the song, so I doubt you want that association, haha. It's a pretty famous song, too.
There's a character named Ash in Pokemon? Huh. Didn't know that! I don't think it would matter, though, because it's not a reference that, like, 85% of the population would get. Hardly anyone I know pays any attention to Pokemon, and I work in the school district and even fewer kids pay any attention to it anymore. They've moved on to other things. Besides, I think it's just really confusing if you name your child one thing but call him by his middle name. Asher probably won't get shorten that often, and if it does, Ash is more of a "sometimes" nickname. It's not like Mike for Michael, it's more like, well...for lack of a better example, my name is Lindsay, and people call me Linds on occassion. But, it's not a name that is used in place of my given one. It's more like when people are in a hurry, they shorten it, but I still write "Lindsay" on papers and that's what 95% of people call me. I think Ash/Asher is more like that than like Mike/Michael or Matt/Matthew.
Asher Liam
Asher Michael (<< I thought of using this one for a while)
Asher Ryan
Asher Colin
Asher Garrett
Asher Finn
Asher Declan
Asher Cormac
Asher Callum
Asher Caleb
Asher Patrick
Asher Tobias
Asher Gideon
Asher Finley
Asher Jared
Asher Gareth

and i knew a business man named Rogan and it suited him. granted he was from Ireland lol

Date: 2007-12-24 10:22 pm (UTC)Jolene sounded really nice with one of the middle names, though... I forget which one, but it flowed beautifully.
You're welcome.
