It's been awhile since I've posted in here due to us having our names picked out or at least half decided on early on.
Anywho, we still are decided on Lyric Marie for a girl and we had agreed on Matthew Allen for a boy but due to recent events I have changed my mind.Any of u who haven't read any of my posts lately my babys dad and I aren't together but had been making a lot of plans and suddenly a couple weeks ago it just went down hill and because of his actions I have decided if we have a boy to name him after a friend of mine from childhood who passed away a couple years ago.
So if we have a boy his name will be Joshua Allen after my friend, but we will still put the Allen part on there. Allen is the owner of the bar we met at thru friends and are regulars at which to him kinda makes us family.Sooo since it's an important part of how we met we thought it would be nice to use his name for a middle name.

My SO doesn't understand why I would want to name my son after Josh no matter how much any of us try to explain it.Anyone have any ideas?All he says is that I better not think we're naming our son after a dead person as if I'm just picking a name randomly from a tombstone or something.grrr

Enough rambling, sorry.lol
So what does everyone think of the name Joshua David Allen?Honestly, no hard feelings if u tell me u don't like it. :)

Uh, your SO's kind of being a douchebag. Since when is it "bad" to name a kid after a deceased loved one? I seriously don't see how you could spin that negatively, unless he's somehow jealous of your dead friend (which...I don't know the guy, so I guess it's possible, but that seems like a reach!)
Joshua is a beautiful name, one of my favorites.

i don't understand why he doesn't understand that you want to name your child after a close friend of yours...if you name your child after your friend then part of him will always be with you (not saying that it isn't now)

bah!! on your SO - people have been naming babies after loved ones that have passed on forever!!!! great name choice. if our was a boy, his name would have been Elliott after a musician i knew that passed away.

I've never been a huge fan of Joshua. Not because it's not a nice name, but I seem to know 10,000 Joshua's. lol

As long as you're positive you want to name your baby after a deceased friend, go for it. Just make sure it's what you really want. :)

your SO needs to chill out! it's not like you're naming your son after a dead LOVER. and there really isn't anything wrong with honoring a friend who has passed on by naming a child after that friend. if he can't understand that you should tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine! :P otherwise...I'm not a particular fan of David as middle name because it's so over used but I like the combination. :)

I completely understand nameing the baby after your childhood friend!! My childhood best friend died at the age of 14 from a heart defect and when ever I have a baby I want his name (Brian) somewhere in there.

I know like 3 different people who have the first-middle name combo David Allen! That's the only thing agianst it... and Josh is one of my all time favorite names.

BTW, I love your idea for a girls name.
