sorry, I hit post too soon. In Italy it's a very common name, I think in the US it's not as overused. In italian it also sounds very plain. Sarah is somewhat richer-sounding. I don't think it's outdated, more of an evergreen
I like Sarah. I don't think it's too outdated at all. However, when I see Sara, I always think mid-80s, because the only people I know with their name spelled Sara are about 22 right now.
I, too, think Sarah is classic, and never will be "outdated". Definately prefer it spelled with the h on the end. I also really like Sariah (pronounced with the long i sound as in island).
I think it's quite boring, but it doesn't become easily outdated =)! I think both spellings are alright, but somehow Sarah seems more finished, or something.
I'm a bit undecided. I love Sarah because it seems more classic. I hate Sarah because there are so many of them in my school (honestly, it's the most popular name). I love Sara because it's the name of my best friend. I hate Sara because it seems incomplete.
My sister's name is Sarah, and I actually like it a lot. I think it's a great sounding name, and a classic, but it's so common. It's probably the most common name I've actually encountered.
It ain't just 20-30, though I'm sure there are tons. I'm 16, just did a facebook search, and there are 24 Sarahs on facebook at my fairly small high school.
I didn't go with Sara or Sarah because of how popular the name was. I ended up choosing Serafina, while using the nickname about half the time of Sera.
Sara. I don't think it's really outdated...still don't like it, though. All I can think of when I hear it is "Sarah, Plain and Tall." I've never even seen/read that movie/book, whatever it is, but it fits the name, all right. It's so plain to me that it's ugly.
Sara = sar-rah (as in car) Sarah = sair-rah (as in air)
Sarah was an extremely popular name, there was at least 3 Sarahs in all my classes growing up. Sara is more rare. I don't like either names, but I prefer the spelling of Sera instead of Sarah.
I hate it, it's boring and blah.. i know a million.
I think they're two different names though.. i'm guessing you're pronouncing them both the way i pronounce Sarah. To me, Sara has the sound of 'arrr' rather than 'air' so rhymes with carer.
Most Sara's in Australia are pronounced Saara not Sarah so to me they're different names. I prefer Sara (Pronounced Saara). I don't care for the name Sarah at all.
I think Sarah (which is my name) will never, ever be outdated. It's still a top 15 name, and it's timeless, like Michael, Joshua and Emily.
I'd spell it Sarah (lol, go figure) but I don't really fancy it altogether anyway. I am also very insistant that Sara and Sarah are the same name in the US.
But get this - a top five name in the 80s when I was born, right? I never met another personally until 9th grade!
I like both. I pronounce them differently, though. Sara is Sah-Rah and Sarah is Sair-Rah. I have only wonderful connotations of the name Sara, so that could be why I prefer it, but they're both just lovely, and classic too.
I dislike this name with a passion. Sarah seems to be the "standard" - Sara is less common. There were 10 Sara(h)s in my sixth grade class. To me it is an over used name prefered by trashy teen moms trying to make their kids sound classy. This may be due to where I grew up.

The first syllable of Sara rhymes with car.
I kinda like them both, but Sara is more unusual (over here anyway).
