[identity profile] xever.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My husband and I have come up with a handful of names for our twins that we are expecting in March. We would love to know what people think of them.

Girl names
Madison Isobella
Mackenzie Rose

We think that combo would be really cute if they're both girls

Jordan Emily

Boy names
Charlie Trevor - Trevor as a middle name after his father
William Patrick
Miles Liam

My favs are Jordan and Miles, would love to hear what you all think.

I like William Patrick a lot. I don't like Charlie as a full name just because it doesn't seem to suit an adult really well. I'm not a fan of Miles, but I love Liam.

I hate the spellig Isobella, but I do like Isabella, and I love Rose. I'm tired of Madison and Mackenzie, but they're not bad names.

I like William Patrick and Miles Liam (or Liam Miles)
But I don't care for Madison or Mackenzie (though I do like Isobel(la) and Rose)

Girl names
Madison Isobella- Just about Livable
Mackenzie Rose- i detest Mackenzie.
You should know that both names are terribly tacky and trendy.. and they're really popular for twin girls, i guess a lot of people find them cute. Personally, i think they're horrible names that will sound dated very soon.

Jordan Emily- lol you seem to like the popular unisex names. Jordan is just about okay.

Boy names
Charlie Trevor - Love Charlie
William Patrick- hate William
Miles Liam- Love this combo.

I agree with you on the dated factor... I'm surprised that hasn't come up more when talking about trendy names. It's like side ponytails, haha.

Your girls' names couldn't possibly be more trendy and dated. Also, both Madison and Mackenzie mean "son of" whomever in origin. The best thing I can say about them is that they match stylistically. Why not Isabel and Rose?

Your boys' names are fine, as long as you don't use William and Liam, as Liam can be a nickname for William.

I agree completely.

Also, I'm not fond of "cute" or "matching" names, especially twins. "Cute" is all well and good when they're three, but not so endearing (especially to them) when they're thirty. They're individual people, not half of a darling sibset of twins, and I strongly feel that the names you choose for them need to reflect this.

They could be more trendy and dated... at least they're not Aiden and Jaden!

Okay, they couldn't be more trendy and dated for two girls.

I wonder how many Madison/Mackenzie twinsets are out there?

Haha, it would be worse if it were Madison and Addison!

I love Isabella in this spelling, but Madison is far overused.
Mackenzie Rose is cute, but I've been hearing the same combination a lot lately. Plus, I wouldn't give twins the same initial, but that's just me.
Emily is really pretty, and it sort of complements Jordan well, although I don't like Jordan on girls.

For boys, I'd go with Charles instead of Charlie (business card test always in mind!), but Trevor is good.
William Patrick is just fine, Miles Liam has maybe too many 'l' sounds.
Maybe Miles Patrick would work better

Congratulations on your pregnancy! :D

I dunno about how 'popular' or trendy they are - i guess it varies from place to place - but I don't think that should make a name automatically bad. I really like McKenzie Rose, I think it's very pretty and flows well. I never really liked Isobelle/Isobella, but I like Madison and I think they go well together. I also really like William Patrick. Jordan is a pretty name in itself, but I can't quite get past the Glamour Model accosiation.

I like Madison Isobella! I think it goes well with Mackenzie indeed, but I personally don't like that name at all.
Your boy's names are all fine, and I really, really like Miles Liam.
It is true that Madison & Mackenzie are extremely popular names, and it's good to keep that in mind, but really, if you love those names, just go for it =)

The boy names are really cute! I prefer Liam to Miles, but it's not bad. The girl names are cute too but I feel like Madison is used a lot right now, but if that doesn't matter to u then I think they sound really cute together :)

Popular isn't necessarily bad: Catherine, Elizabeth, Ann(a) Mary/Maria are all "popular" names but classic and pretty.

Trendy, however is bad, and I feel that's the category the names you've chosen have fallen in to.

I love your boy names, a lot. The only thing I'd change about them is to use Charles instead of Charlie. Charlie is really informal, and the way I always explain this is to say, think about when your child is an adult and is applying for a job. He writes "Charlie LAST NAME" on his resume, and the guy looking through them looks at it, thinks "He doesn't know he should put his formal name on the resume?" and it gets thrown in the reject pile because of a misunderstanding. I love Charlie, and most people would call him Charlie if his name was Charles. Plus, I think Charles Trevor flows a lot better than Charlie Trevor. William Patrick and Miles Liam are both adorable:)

I like Emily, Rose, and Isabella (but not Isobella). Madison, Mackenzie, and Jordan are all really popular and very trendy right now, so I'd recommend staying away from those ones. They're not BAD, but they're just...very very very popular and your child will definitely be dated forever back to around 2007 for their entire lives. I know that Emily is also really popular, since it's #1 for the Social Security data, but (1) the "alternative" spellings of Madison and Mazkenzie give them both a false sense of uniqueness; if both names had all of their alternative spellings added together, they would both be much more common; (2) Emily has a lot more staying power than the others. It's been popular since the 1800s, and even before that, and while it only recently skyrocketed, it's been on the rise for a while, and it will probably stick around for a while, too; (3) Emily is a much prettier name than Madison or Mackenzie.

Other ideas for first names - I typed your favorites into Nymbler and this is what came out as girl name suggestions that I think are really cute:
Ainsley
Aubrey
Delaney
Macy
Haley
Harper
Piper
Madeleine (a classic, like Emily, that has more staying power than Madison)

Like I said, I love the boy names, and Miles Liam is a great combination. William Patrick is the other boy name I'd use for a twin, because they're not matchy, but they compliment each other well. The only problem with that is that Liam and William are so close to each other. What about Miles Trevor or Miles Jordan? (Jordan is much better on guys, I think)

For the girls, I'd stay away from matchy names. I know that it's easy to think that twins should have matching first names, but Madison and Mackenzie are WAY too much. They're individuals, and they should have individual names, you know? If you want their names to match, I'd go with something more subtle, like... for boys, maybe you could do Miles for one and John for the other after famous musicians (Miles Davis & John Lennon) or something like that. Something that isn't totally obvious.

Plus, can you imagine how many girl sets of twins have been born in the past couple of years who are named Madison and Mackenzie? Waaaaay too many. It kind of gives me a headache.

Madison (Isabella) is nice.
I'm not too fond of Mackenzie like other ppl on here.
I love the name Jordan. I think it would sound really nice for either boy/girl.

And William Patrick is a good one. :)

i like both of these names:
Madison Isobella (esp the way you have Isobella spelled)
Mackenzie Rose

i do like the options of:
Emily Rose or
Madeline Rose (but, madison and madeline are too matchy.. whereas, madison and mackenzie go together better)

if you like Jordan you could always go with:
Isobella Jordan (or vice versa) & Emily Rose if they're both girls

for the boy names, i like:
William Patrick (nn Liam)
Miles Jordan
Miles Patrick
Jordan Trevor

if you have girl/boy twins:
Isobella Rose & William Patrick (nn Bella & Liam)

Madison and Mackenzie = Trendy and Trendier. Sorry. The boys names are nice, but Charlie should just be Charles, and then you can call him Charlie as a nickname. He'll appreciate it when he's not a kid anymore.

I think Madison and Mackenzie are very pretty names that go well together. Who cares if some people think they are trendy? They're still very cute girly names.

I like William Patrick a lot with the nickname Liam.

May I suggest:
William Trevor
Charles Patrick

Jordan and Miles would be nice if it were a b/g set.

I don't necessarily like twins with the same initials but Madison and Mckenzie do go well together. I'm more partial to Jordan because its my name and I love hearing it on other girls! I think all the boys names are nice and they all go well together.
