1. IF you liked the name and IF you were going to use it, which would you use: Melanie or Melony? Why or why not?

2. I noticed on a locker sign today (for someone's birthday) the name Ahlizabeth. WDYT? I think it's purely ludicrous, and it's a bit shameful to the original spelling. I have always seen Elizabeth as "classy" and "formal"... but this name makes me want to gag a bit. Will crazy spellings ever be put to rest?

I like Melanie because I like traditional spellings and that's the only way I've ever seen it.
Also Ahlizabeth is atrocious.
It's like AHHH!

I may be the only one, but I prefer Melony.

Ahlizabeth makes me want to cry. I love Elizabeth.

Melanie. Melanie seems more like a name and more...adult-like. Melony reminds me of the fruit. Like the way you'd describe somebody. Like saying, "Oh, she's melony." As in, she's very melon-like. Hahaha.

Ahlizabeth is awful. Ugh.

Melanie. Because it's correct. Melony seems like an adjective that describes melons.

Crazy spellings will just get worse and worse. Pretty soon you'll see names like Ahlyzzybyth and Mellynee.

Hehe, thinking of the worst possible spelling of names is fun.

I just hope no one sees this and says, "Oh man these are so unique, I think I'll name my kid Mehlynneigh Ahlyzzybyth!"

Melanie - Melony just seems off. In fact, at first glance I read "Melody".

I agree that Ahlizabeth is ludicrous.

Melanie. because it's a child's name, they aren't like a melon

Melony is horrid. Melanie is lovely.

Melanie!
Melony reads as Melon-y as in "wow that chapstick smells really melony!"

Melanie. Because it's the proper spelling, and Melony, aside from looking plain retarded, is either something melon-like, or a serious fruit related crime

I'm surprised, btw, that everyone noticed the "melon" part, but no one noticed that it looks like "felony"

And Ahlizabeth is awful, yeah...

I immediately though 'rhymes with baloney' actually. lol.

Why, why, why do people butcher beautiful names??! Ahlizabeth is just horrid!!
And, I'd use Melanie. I simply don't like Melony.

Melanie definitely.

Melony is awful.

You think Ahlizabeth is ludicrous, but you'd consider Melony?

Go read The Cider House Rules. That'll kill any interest you have in Melony. I hope.

Melanie, on the other hand, is lovely.

I absolutely think Melanie is better. Although when I was a kid, I tried to spell it with a "y" just to be different. It didn't stick.

My first thought too was Felony Melony... bad, all the way around, bad.

Melony sounds like you're describing a fruit drink.

Melanie, it's my best friend's name. I think Melony should either just become Melanie or Melody. I'm not a fan of Ahlizabeth. I just don't think you should mess with classic names like that.

Melanie. Melony looks like Melon+y or a typo of Melody.

Ahlizabeth is such a pity, since Elizabeth is a pretty name.

Ahlizabeth sounds like something I might've tried to go by to be "cool." When I was about twelve. (And, in fact, I made up about seven trillion versions of Elizabeth to try out, but somehow missed that one.) Now, I am grateful that my mother knew how to spell.

I prefer Melanie to Melony.

I love the name Melanie, it's one of my favourites. Melony is like the adjective of melon =P

My middle name is Elizabeth... traditional spelling. I like it, but I have to admit to liking the European version Elisabeth better.

Melanie. Melony looks made up!
Ahlizabeth makes me cry.
