An internet acquaintance of mine met her now SO through the internet. They're expecting their first child together for this winter and it's a girl. They're in Denmark and she's part english. They haven't settled for a first name, but they're toying with the idea of using Java as a middle name, as a tribute to technology, which they credit for bringing the 2 of them together.
I think Java sounds nice, and it looks close to Jada, but it makes me think of the tea. Exotic enough, that's for sure. But naming your kid after computer applications? I'm not sure what I think of it.
WDYT? Do you find their choice to be tacky?
P.S. I think they're considering Anabel and Sofie for first names.

Date: 2007-09-23 07:07 pm (UTC)But then it would be like advertising. At least Java is not a brand (I think).
What would you suggest for a boy? :)
Just in case they have another kid lol

Date: 2007-09-23 07:00 pm (UTC)I dunno, I really thinks it's a horse name, I know five show horses with Java as part of their name, I really can't see it on a human... can't they pay tribute to technology by buying some?
(I really love the name Sofie though)

Date: 2007-09-24 08:11 am (UTC)Java is a programming language, I think it's used when you open any kind of query or pop-up window, although I'm not sure.
They might as well call her 'chat' actually, as it also means cat in french, that's feminine haha
