I've been incessently bothering my husband about figuring out a boy's name before our ultrasound. He thinks he likes Jayden Paul (which uses my father's middle name), and I like it.

It's not my first choice, but what do y'all think?

I'm aware of what trendy means, and I still find it shallow to disregard names because they're no longer cute/quirky/unique. And attractive, unusual names are arguably trendy as well. Every parent today is seemingly contriving in naming their child something unique for the sake of being different. That might account for the disturbing amount of revolting names sometimes posted here for us to giggle at.

*shrug* I don't see why one reason for picking or deciding against a name is any more "shallow" than another. You don't like the sound, you don't want your child to have the same name as everyone else in your neighborhood; you want a distinctive, sticks-with-you name for your child, or you want to avoid that; you want a name that reflects your heritage, or you want a name that doesn't have roots in any particular nationality -- these are things that parents often consider when making this decision. Don't see why any of these reasons should be considered less valid than any of the others. But whatever.

Well I'm sure you know this, but they're called opinions, and we all have them for everything.
