Think we got one!
May. 16th, 2007 07:58 pmI've been incessently bothering my husband about figuring out a boy's name before our ultrasound. He thinks he likes Jayden Paul (which uses my father's middle name), and I like it.
It's not my first choice, but what do y'all think?

Date: 2007-05-18 12:06 pm (UTC)there's something called consideration for others. it may be translated as *tact*. what if i told you that your kids have the most god-awful names i've ever heard? i think, as a mother, you'd resent that a little. it would go a little better if you just said *that's not something i would choose for myself.*

Date: 2007-05-18 03:23 pm (UTC)and I've had plenty of people not like my kids' names, but I don't care so much, you know? they're old names with real history that aren't being overused, so beyond that it's just a matter of whether people like the sound or not. can't please everyone. Ja(y)den on the other hand is trendy and made up, and sounds ridiculous (or at least will on a child older than 6) so it's got 3 strikes against it.
oh yeah, and people had the *tact* to tell me after my kids were born and named that they didn't like the names.. where as I'm saying this about an unnamed fetus that may very well be a girl. I wouldn't say it if you had come here after the birth, believe it or not. but I WOULD say it all to someone's face that I knew in real life, if they hadn't officially named their kid that. so it's not just an internet thing.
you're missing the point. you asked what we all think and I'm included in the all! it's up to you whether you care or not, but apparently you do.

Jayden isn't trendy and made up----do a little research. It's Hebrew, which means it's far older than your historic names.

7 Next to them, repairs were made by men from Gibeon and Mizpah—Melatiah of Gibeon and Jadon of Meronoth—places under the authority of the governor of Trans-Euphrates.
Jadon. Not Jayden. Similarity of spelling doesn't absolutely make them the same name. Got any better evidence?
