Think we got one!
May. 16th, 2007 07:58 pmI've been incessently bothering my husband about figuring out a boy's name before our ultrasound. He thinks he likes Jayden Paul (which uses my father's middle name), and I like it.
It's not my first choice, but what do y'all think?

Though...
why Jayden? Why do you like it better than Hayden/Caden/Aiden/Brayden?
I'm just curious, not trying to offend. All four of those names go nicely with Paul.

Date: 2007-05-17 04:38 am (UTC)Hubby hasn't been conducive to ANY names I've offered up. He finally got online to do something & asked if I liked Jayden. I said yes, but I thought he wouldn't go for it. He asked how I'd spell it, and I said Jaden. He said that the site he was on didn't list that as an *acceptable spelling*. I've only ever seen it as Jaden (boy) or Jaiden (girl).
I wanted Gavin or Tristan. He vetoed both of them. Well, he's got some bad taste in names.

Date: 2007-05-17 04:43 am (UTC)Hmm...Ian is always good, and because of hard C, Christian is probably out (similar to Tristan).
Darn.
I swear, when I'm pregnant, if I birth it, I name it. My husband can pick middle names, but first names are up to me. And our last name, of course.

Date: 2007-05-17 04:51 am (UTC)We already have a baby boy, and he's got his father's name. I told him that I have the rights to this one, so I should just stick up for myself & tell him I'll do what I want. I just have this illusion that we'll pick something together. Guess it's not going that way.
I'm creating fingerprints for this baby, right? I should get total naming rights!
We're trying to use my father's name as a middle name, so that limits us. My hubby's Irish (like his father's off-the-boat), so he'd like something that leans that way. Liam was used by his cousin, Liam was used by his other cousin (both in the past 10 months), and his sister is due in 6 weeks with a boy...and she's not releasing a name.
I wish something would just pop out of the blue that we both like.
My fourth choice was Alexander (using Xander), and he told me that was out because it wasn't Irish.
Men suck.

Date: 2007-05-17 05:15 am (UTC)Perhaps your second boy can have two middle names? The first name you like, your father's middle and a name your husband likes?
Good luck though! I hope you figure something out.

Date: 2007-05-17 05:24 am (UTC)My last name's Kelly----so Colin, Brody, Brady, Kellan, Kieran, Quinn, and the rest of the lot are out. Nothing that starts with the *ck* sound or ends in *y*.
This is getting to the point of stupid. He's got no suggestions, but he hates everything I like. The only one he brought up that didn't sound idiotic was Jayden, and I hate that spelling.
..the consensus here is that it's too trendy & a girlie name, too.
I'm back to square one.

Date: 2007-05-17 06:49 pm (UTC)How about Ronan (prn Row-nan, as in 'row your boat' not as in having an argument)? Ronan Paul Kelly works.
