I agree the name flows well,
but Aiden/Aidan is soo trendy and popular nowadays. You'd be giving your son a really dated name.

Please, no more Aidens! It seems like every third girl on LiveJournal is calling her baby that. It's a nice name, but it's like naming a kid Jennifer or Chris back when we were born.

I understand you didn't choose it to fit in! The thing is, every other mom of an Aiden/Aidan/Ayden/Adyn ALSO picked it because she loved it dearly. If it being popular doesn't bother you, go for it, but I'm sure with a baby name book you could find something you liked as well that wasn't as overused. The Baby Name Voyager (http://babynamewizard.com/namevoyager/lnv0105.html) is a great tool for judging how popular a name is. (Aiden is only in the 40s, but it's trendy -- no one used it before the 90's.)

Well you have to take in all the spelling variations. Plus -aiden is much more common as a suffix than it may be on it's own. I mean the kid will definitely be surrounded by loads of jaydens, caidens, haydens, etc of both sexes. I'll be shocked when the numbers come out this year if Aiden isn't #1 or at least top 5.

I think its a nice name...

I plan to name a boy Brayden.. so who cares if it's trendy and who likes it. All that matters is what you think.

Uh, you're not allowed to delete comments doll.

If you can't handle both positive and negative feedback, please refrain from posting.

So this whole getting rid of the comments which disagree with you and only keeping the ones you like isn't cool for this community.

So I'll reiterate, and keep my comment on here:

Not another Aiden!

Aiden is entirely too popular, and every mother who names her kid that does it because they just looove the name and not because they want to be trendy, but it doesn't change the fact that you'll be seen as doing it for trendy reasons anyways.

So I vote no on any ayden/aiden/aiduhn/cayden/jayden/whatever name. I give you 2% props on the fact that you're actually spelling it in a decent way, but it's trendyness makes it a bad name IMO.

You're one of the entitlement pregnant women then? Because you're pregnant people should automatically agree with everything you say? This is a community for OPINIONS, you asked for opinions, and you got them, whether you like it or not, and people have worded their dislike of the name pretty nicely so far.

And it's not ridiculous, cause the comments you deleted were ones that thought you were doing it because it was popular ;) you're going to have to deal with it if you choose such a trendy name, so might as well get used to the lashback now.

And yes, I am a mother, AND I am pregnant. The only reason people can dislike a name is because they're childfree? or do you think because I'm pregnant and have been pregnant in the past that we form some bond in which I should throw my opinions out the window, I should indulge your entitlement, pat you on the head, and ignore the fact that I think it's a way too trendy name to make you feel a little better.

You asked for opinions, you got them. That is in fact, the reason of this community, and if you can't stand people disagreeing with you, even though everyone has done it nicely, then why ask for the opinion in the first place?

And honestly the fact that there are 5 AIDEN'S or variations thereof in my son's daycare, and the majority of friends I know who've had babies have named them Aiden, I think THAT is the thing that's ridiculous.

and PS - a lot of people really don't like my son's name, my own family made fun of it for the first 2 weeks after he was born. (His name is Treyton Alexander, btw, nn Trey), and they'd call him from "ash tray" to "ice tray", but that goes with the territory, not everyone is going to like the name you choose and it's silly to expect them too, especially when you're asking for opinions on it. I could care less if people don't like the name Trey because I do, and my husband does, and it suits my son perfectly. Sometimes you just gotta realize it comes with the territory and shrug it off.

it's too popular for me, personally, if even it is a very nice name!

i would just consider one thing, how would you have felt growing up if your name was jennifer/jessica/ashley/amanda/sarah (which were the top 5 names in '84). would it have bothered you to always be called Jennifer *last initial*? it's something i think of because i was always, even now, am refered to as Krystal M. and it kinda sucks! (to me at least)

but if that doesnt bother you and it is the perfect name, go for it! i know what it's like to find the perfect name for your baby and have people say "don't do it!"

that's pretty understandable, you don't want your son to go through that, too!

: )

It practically rhymes. And Aiden is so trite and trendy and boring.
