Ellison for a girl?

I saw this posted on the board at the gym. At first I thought it was weird, but the more I think about it, it's kinda cute. Plus I like the nicknames Elle and especially Elly. I don't think I'd name my kid that, but I could see it having cute potential.

Opinions?

It's kinda cute. Much nicer than Madison or Addison.
I had a crazy teacher in High School named Ms. Ellison so it makes me think of her...oh well. It's still a nice change from Madison and Addison.

I think it's kind of cute, but then again there's that whole "sun" factor, still not sure whether i can deal with that or not.

I don't know if I like it... I love the nicknames, but it's too close to Allison which I don't like...

It's not bad, but it feels like it's two trends (Ella/Ellie and Madison/Addison) merging.

There's a model/actress type in the UK called Jennifer Ellison so I can't help but think of her. I think she's pretty tacky so it puts me off the name. I've also had negative experiences with lots of Elles and Ellies so overall I don't really like it. I think that's more to do with the associations than the name itself though.

Personally, I think names ending in -son are undeniably masculine. Names ending with -son usually connote SON OF ____. (Robertson is son of Robert, Johnson is son of John.)

As for Ellison, I think there are better ways to get the nicknames Elle or Elly without using it. (Helen, Ellen, Eleanor/Elinor, Elena, Elia, Elizabeth, Eliza, Cornelia, etc, etc).

For me, it'll be a surname... and possibly a boy's name. Sounds too masculine for a girl.

I love the name Elle on its own...Ellison is the kind of name that I'd probably love on someone else's kid, but wouldn't choose for my own.

I think it's ridiculous.
It just looks like someone got creative with Alison.

I think it's kind of cute. It sounds like a variation of the name Allison to me. Personally, I don't think I would ever name my daughter that...it sounds like a surname and I'm not really into the surnames as first names thing.

I love it, I posted something about it this past summer and everyone bashed it. Guess tastes change in less than a year...
