[identity profile] zorianna.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I'm in nursing school, and the other day at the hospital, I saw two employees with totally normal names but spelled completely ridiculously.

Stacye
and
Mellany

The second one I thought was a totally different name, and I sat there looking at the schedule where it was written thinking it was Muh-LAN-ny or something until it hit me that it was Melanie. I think these kinds of spellings are totally pointless and cause unnecessary confusion for these people, probably for their entire lives.

And in other news, my best friend just found out she's pregnant so when she gets around to picking names, I'm sure I'll be posting them here.

Those are horrendous. I did realize that Mellany was Melanie but it looks horrid. Ugh.

That's just silly

And what is he point of the e on the end of Stacy? The English language is complicated enough with silent letters...we don't need to add to it.

And Mellany just looks like the parents didn't know the proper way to spell Melanie and never bothered to look it up

I don't know.

I see that people think they are being original or creative by take names like Melanie and making a new spelling.

Stacye looks like Stacey for the dyslexic. Take it from a Stacy - my name is never spelled right, but poor Stacye has it much worse.
