Feb. 16th, 2007 10:36 amHello!
My partner and I were discussing boys' names (we don't know the sex yet) and he really likes the name 'Spike'. I think it's cute, but as a nickname. I don't know if it would be fair to give a boy a nickname as a first name? I suggested it as a second/middle name but he said he hates the idea of calling a kid by his middle name.
So, are there names that could be shortened to 'Spike'? Or names that have a similar sound or feel or do you all think Spike is fine as a first name?
Thanks!

Convicted felon Spike Lastname -- now it sounds right.
I don't think you even want to start down the road of using Spike as a nickname, given how hard those are to shake. (Think about how many adults are still called Buddy or Little Jim or whatever.) Maybe your boyfriend could get a dog and name that Spike? Because I have to say, it's a very bad choice for a human being.
