I'm really curious as to what you guys think of the names

Esmé
Sorcha (SOHR-ra)

I personally like the latter better, but the former is pretty nice.

My mum says Sorcha is terrible, especially if you ever try to apologise to her.

I've always loved the name Esmé. Not too sure about Sorcha, though.

Sorcha can also be pronounced Sor-ka, though, and that would be the favoured pronunciation in some parts of Ireland. I quite like that pronunciation, but find Sor-ha a bit limp.

I think it's just regional variations - some parts will be more familiar with one pronunciation than another. I'd hazard a guess that places with a higher proportion of Irish speakers or more of a Gaelic influence would favour Sor-ha, as it looks like the more Irish pronunciation (like Meadbh/Niamh being Meve/Neve). That's just speculation, though.

If it's pronounced "Sore-ah" then WHY does there need to be a C in there?
Why not just... Sora?

I like Sora though, and Esme (little thingy on top of the E) is cute as well.

(I'll admit it. Sora makes me think of Digimon, LOL. That is the only place i've ever heard the name)
But i really like it.

With the other spelling, i'd be tempted to say "sor-cha"

I recommend looking on the Irish names section of behindthename. Irish spellings are obviously so different from what we're used to. Some are so beautiful, though: Eimear (Ee-mur), Eilís (Ie-leesh) and Caoimhe (Keeva). Not spellings for anyone with no recent Irish heritage, though!

Hah, funny but offtopic story. When i was younger, i refused to see the logic in putting letters in words which would be silent.
So for at least a year i went around pronouncing everything as it was WRITTEN.

soooo, psychic would become "pee-sy-chick"

(i was young and stupid ok, haha)

lol!!
it's ok. *gives you an e-cookie*

Seriously though, i was sent to a shrink because everyone thought i was mental.
I rarely talked much, kept things to myself. So obviously when i did talk, and i talked weird like that.. people just sort of avoided me. :)

OH AND I HAD A LISP TOO.
I swear, i was a loner for years. What amazing memories, lmfao.

I like lisps too, i'm just too self concious.

Once i got over my weird stage, i got REALLY self concious of myself, and constantly started working on my lisp..
Now i can talk pretty normally, if i watch what i'm saying.. which is pretty much a habit now.
But every once in awhile, i slip up.

but lol, so many "s" sounds.. poor girl!
