Jan. 31st, 2007 11:05 amThis weekend we spent a lot of time talking about baby names. Here are some of the combos we came up with
Baby Girl T
Esther Kate
Helen Elisabeth
Elisabeth Kate
What are your thoughts on Helen and Esther as baby names? I personally love that they are classic and old fashioned. I think it gives them beauty and elegance.
My favorite Boy name at the moment is Carter...which I love with the middle name Luke or James. However I feel like its so trendy and today rather then classic which all my girls names are. Would Esther/Helen and Carter sound weird together?
Do you think your childrens names need to have similar backgrounds, orgins, sound, etc?
THANKS!

Date: 2007-01-31 04:30 pm (UTC)I mean, it may be all classic and old fashioned. But i've rarely met any people who want to be known as classic and old fashioned, know what i mean?
I just asked 5 different people what they thought of the name Esther, and they all said if that was their name.. they would be doing everything they can to find a nickname or something else to be known as :/
Elisabeth is really nice though.
I've only ever known one Carter in my life.. he was an ass. HAH.
James Carter sounds nice, not the other way around though.
k, enough babbling from me. Taa~

Date: 2007-01-31 05:41 pm (UTC)I don't think either goes super well with Carter. I think it would be a little strange in combination with something so traditional.

Date: 2007-01-31 06:14 pm (UTC)I prefer Carter James. I am not too fond of the girl names...Elisabeth Kate I think is the best.

Date: 2007-01-31 07:08 pm (UTC)As for being old-fashioned, I don't think Esther is too bad. What about Estelle - does that sound a bit more modern?

Date: 2007-01-31 07:17 pm (UTC)The argument that it's "old fashioned" or that it's hard to picture it on a young person is really, really lame. In fifty years the "modern" names like Madison or other crap like that will sound hopelessly dated.
Esther Kate is nice, but to mix up your combos - I really like Esther Elisabeth! It has a nice ring to it, and in this case I like the alliterative initials.

Date: 2007-01-31 08:40 pm (UTC)I prefer Helena to Helen, personally.
As for sibsets - I think they just need to sound nice together. Not too similar, not too rhymey, but also not Alexandria Beatrix Marie and Bob. Slight disparity there. ;)
I like your names!
