[identity profile] abandoneddream.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I am due in June with a baby girl. A friend of mine just pointed something out, suggesting that we give our daughter a name that begins with K. My husband's name is Bradley, mine is Elizabeth, and our son is Henry. She showed me this pattern: B c d E f g H i j K

Thing is, there aren't really any K names that I am particularly fond of. Suggestions?

I don't care for Kimberly, I can't use Katherine, and I don't like the K instead of C trend. Her middle name is to be Lilian.

Your ideas will be very much appreciated!

Kate, Keira, Kristin, Kelsey, Keirstin

Those are the K names I like, if it helps.

Katarina? Kateri?

I don't care for much in the K department, myself.

Oops! They were all recommended. I like those 3, though. Especially Kelsey.

Oooh! I vote Kathleen cuz it's my name and not overly popular like Katherine or Kaitlyn would be. She could go by Kate, Katie (me), Kathy, Leena, etc.

One of my absolute favorite names is Kaelyn. Other names I can think of are Kendra and Krystal (which is common with a K, as far as I know.)

Also, I agree on not liking the K as a C trend.

My friend's daughter's name is Kilee, and I love it, although i personally would spell it Kiley.

There are lots of K names out there, so there should be a good selection from which to choose if this is something you really want to try.

Just a heads-up, though: if you follow through with this and end up with a big family, child #4 would need a name that starts with Q. That's obviously not an impossible task, but the choices are pretty slim. It would be a little sad to feel you "had to" give your adorable baby a name you actually find ugly because of some coincidence with the alphabet. Know what I mean?

(Fortunately, it sounds, based on your comment to another poster, like you wouldn't actually go that far. But there are people out there who would.)

Quinn would be a cute Q name for either sex.

(Just sayin'.)

My name is Kati which I like since it isn't the generic spelling of Katie. Other Kati's that I know are Katee and Kaity.

My name is Katherine but I've always gone by Kate. I love the name Kate. :) Kathleen, Kathlynn, Kaitlin, Kaylee (or Kaleigh), Kadence, Katie, Kelsey...umm...that's all I can think of right now.

To be honest, I think that's pretty silly and very obscure. I think you are better off picking out a name you truly love, than restricting yourself to some pattern observed by an overly-analytical friend.

My favorite K name is Kaia.

I've never really liked K's (even though my first name begins with K, Kailani). One name that I can think of that I do like is Katina.

Oh and I agree with what someone said in an earlier comment, I think you'd be happier if you choose a name because you really like it, not just because fits a certain pattern.

I think your friend is very perceptive. *impressed* Anyway ... K.

As a completely out-there suggestion, I know someone with the middle name Kalliope (cal-ee-OH-pee), named after one of the muses (actually, the muse was called Calliope, but I didn't think the K was too bad in this one).
Kate
Kira
Kansas (one of the few place-names that I actually like)
Kirsten
Kestrel

To be honest though I don't really like K as a first name suggestor.
