so go figure, i decided to get started on naming the little bugger that is on the way, which might i add is making me even more anxious!

boy name, a piece of cake. i like Cooper Kenneth Blair Petersen. it's kind of a secret since the family thinks we're going the [something] James Blair route, but we want to surprise our families by throwing in a family name from both sides; Kenneth is the name of my [living] grandfather AND my fiancee's [favorite but deceased] grandfather. everyone will be so surprised and touched, especially my grandpa! ...along with the must-have passed down name of Blair thanks to family tradition.

BUT when it comes to a girl name, i have free reign, which is NOT making it easy for me!
i am in LOVE with the name Sophie. but i have a hard time finding middle names to go with.
but when it comes to Sophia (a name i'm not terribly crazy about) i can come up with numerous combos.  my favorite Sophia Violet Marie Petersen.
i would use Sophie instead, but it just doesnt sound the same with that combo, IMO. and nothing i've came up with seems to have a RING to it.

so i have a few questions for you all.
Would it be confusing to name her Sophia and call her Sophie?
and What are some great name combos to use with the name Sophie?

i've included a list of my favorite girl names so you have an idea of what i like...
all of these names are making my head spin. i cant figure out what sounds good with Sophie!! :(
oh, and to add to the difficulty, she would be having TWO middle names, hahah. [DIES]

Girl names:

Ruby
Hannah
Violet
Molly
Tatum
Charlotte
Daphne
Teagan
Mindy
Shelby
Eloise
Celeste
Flora
Farrah
Jewel
Ginnifer

feel free to incorporate/mix-match these into any suggestions!
and i am most definately open to any other names!

so, Please oh wise naming ones, help me out!

ps. sorry to ramble!

Our neices names is Sophia but we usually call her Sophie. It's Sophia Grace Henry...but yeah she's tiny and Sophie most of the time.

p.s. Although I'm not a fan of the 2 middle name tradition, Sophia Violet Marie is beautiful.

I am in love with Violet, and if I ever decide to actually have kids, Violet is probably my #1 choice for a girl's middle name. I'm not that into the use of 2 middle names, but either way, Sophia Violet by itself or Sophia Violet Marie is gorgeous. I love it.

I think naming her Sophia and calling her Sophie would be all right. Plus, when she grows up, she could switch over to being called Sophia if she prefers.

First off, congratulations! I really like the name Cooper and it sounds nice with Kenneth and Blair. Very cool of you to honor your family.

Regarding your girl's choice of Sophie: I say name her that. Sophie is a gorgeous name. It makes no sense to me to name her Sophia when you don't even really like that name. Go with your heart, and don't second-guess yourself.

My favorites:

Sophie Charlotte
Sophie Celeste
Sophie Violet Marie (if you're set on giving her two middle names)

Suggestions:

Sophie Juliet
Sophie Renee
Sophie Winter
Sophie Claire
Sophie Colette
Sophie Cassandra
Sophie Francesca
Sophie Margaret
Sophie Skye
Sophie Jane

I wish you the best of luck! Please let us know what you decide! :)

I think the boys name is great, and I also think that Sophia called Sophie is a great idea. I think it's good to give a kid a name that has options.. like she'd be Sophie, but if she ever feels like having a name that sounds a bit more sophisticated (hehe excuse the pun) or whatever, she could go by Sophia. I see it as no different from someone called Anne always going by Annie, or Benjamin always going by Ben. And I have also known Sophies who were really called Sophia.

Sophia Violet Marie is gorgeous!!!

I don't normally meet PetersEns outside of Scandinavia.

I'm of the opinion that if you like Sophie and not Sophia, then name her Sophie. I like Molly--but what do you think of Holly? Holly Marie. I think Celeste sounds the best with Sophie.

if you want to name her sophie, name her sophie, not sophia! i much prefer sophie to sophia. although the more i look at the name written, the more i don't like it, haha. i'm sure you'll find a middle name to go with sophie, and sophie violet sounds pretty IMO.

Nope it's not confusing to name a kid Sophia & call her Sophie, infact that's the common nickname for Sophia ;)

Sophie Charlotte Ruby
Sophie Violet Eloise
Sophie Farrah Jewel

And for the other suggestions...
Sophie Annalise
Sophie Elyse
Sophie Melissa

I ♥ Sophia Violet Marie!
