Jan. 30th, 2007 12:28 amso go figure, i decided to get started on naming the little bugger that is on the way, which might i add is making me even more anxious!
boy name, a piece of cake. i like Cooper Kenneth Blair Petersen. it's kind of a secret since the family thinks we're going the [something] James Blair route, but we want to surprise our families by throwing in a family name from both sides; Kenneth is the name of my [living] grandfather AND my fiancee's [favorite but deceased] grandfather. everyone will be so surprised and touched, especially my grandpa! ...along with the must-have passed down name of Blair thanks to family tradition.
BUT when it comes to a girl name, i have free reign, which is NOT making it easy for me!
i am in LOVE with the name Sophie. but i have a hard time finding middle names to go with.
but when it comes to Sophia (a name i'm not terribly crazy about) i can come up with numerous combos. my favorite Sophia Violet Marie Petersen.
i would use Sophie instead, but it just doesnt sound the same with that combo, IMO. and nothing i've came up with seems to have a RING to it.
so i have a few questions for you all.
Would it be confusing to name her Sophia and call her Sophie?
and What are some great name combos to use with the name Sophie?
i've included a list of my favorite girl names so you have an idea of what i like...
all of these names are making my head spin. i cant figure out what sounds good with Sophie!! :(
oh, and to add to the difficulty, she would be having TWO middle names, hahah. [DIES]
so, Please oh wise naming ones, help me out!
♥
ps. sorry to ramble!

Date: 2007-01-30 09:19 am (UTC)I think naming her Sophia and calling her Sophie would be all right. Plus, when she grows up, she could switch over to being called Sophia if she prefers.

Date: 2007-01-30 09:22 am (UTC)Regarding your girl's choice of Sophie: I say name her that. Sophie is a gorgeous name. It makes no sense to me to name her Sophia when you don't even really like that name. Go with your heart, and don't second-guess yourself.
My favorites:
Sophie Charlotte
Sophie Celeste
Sophie Violet Marie (if you're set on giving her two middle names)
Suggestions:
Sophie Juliet
Sophie Renee
Sophie Winter
Sophie Claire
Sophie Colette
Sophie Cassandra
Sophie Francesca
Sophie Margaret
Sophie Skye
Sophie Jane
I wish you the best of luck! Please let us know what you decide! :)

Date: 2007-01-30 01:36 pm (UTC)I'm of the opinion that if you like Sophie and not Sophia, then name her Sophie. I like Molly--but what do you think of Holly? Holly Marie. I think Celeste sounds the best with Sophie.
