just curious...

what's the worst name you've ever come across? or the most unusual?

here are some of mine:

ocean - a kid i taught in swimming lessons (a girl)

willow - some kid who sends her santa claus letter into the paper every year,

b'elana - willow's even-more-badly-named sister. who would even consider apostrophes to be appropriate in names?

tyger - in the unusual, and not worst category. a kid i babysat, and hated his name until i met him and now i like it (but not enough to name my own kid that). and i think it's cuter than the tiger woods version with an "y" instead of an "i."

jago - friend of tyger's, strangely. and now that i think about it, it reminds me of "jaguar."

and some bad spelling ones...

gulia - pronounced "julia," but moronically spelled with a "g." another kid i taught in swimming lessons, who we all called "GOOLIA." like you would.

gared - brother of goolia, almost as bad, pronounced "jared" but spelled with that stupid "g" again. they G kids also had another sister named genevieve or something that actually worked with the "g."

okay, your turn now!

i like Ocean for a boy :X :X :X

in high school there was a boy named Jaguar (who had a brother named Ferrari) and another boy named Honey. and a girl named Autumn, which isn't so bad but her last name was Fields =/

in middle school there was a Precious Angel (fn/mn).

Ocean: eh i'm iffy.. i don't dislike it, but i don't like it..
Willow: I personally love that name.
B'elana: You don't know the reason they chose to put an apostrophe.. could be tradition or something?
tyger: Not that bad.. not that great either.
Jago: Sounds like it could be in the same catagory as "jose".. it might be pronouced differently?
gulie and gared: i got nothing.. i really dislike the "g" spelling..

I knew a girl named balena (that is how hers was spelled) growing up.. it's not that bad of a name to me..
But yeah, the apostrophe just.. makes it look weird. I almost want to say "bee-elena)

LOL jay-go.
Was he caucasian?? (i can understand the name more maybe if he wasn't white.. not trying to be racist or anything!!! >.<)

Oh... dear.

I went to HS with a Queeny. Maybe SOMEONE could consider that "cute" but this girl had the high and mighty attitude to go with it...so it wasn't. Plus, I can't see her being taken very seriously as an adult with a name like that.

Also, Ravenell. I just hated it.

This probably wasn't SO unusual for the time, but my great grandmother was named Hattibelle.

When I was young I used to play with the kids next door - their names were "Willow" and "Harvest". (I actually like Willow but the combination was quite amusing)

Their parents were very hippy like and the entire family was vegetarians - I remember them coming to my birthday party and they must not have been exposed to junk food before because they both threw up....yeah good times...

Giulia is still pronounces Julia, and is the Italian spelling (as there is no J in the Italian alphabet) and I think Giulia is actually very pretty, but you're right, Gulia is Goo-lia.
And Gared is Gah-red, not Jared. Giared might work, at least in terms of how it's supposed to be pronounced but it looks rather fugly.

Summer June. . . Eck.

My cousin named her kids Alexis Snow White and Odesius Hercules.

The meanest by far was Brooklynne Mackenzee Van Dusen. I feel bad for that kid when she tries to learn how to spell her name.

There's a girl in my school name Kermika. While it's not a particularly "OMG WTF"-type name, it's still ugly =x.

Jago's actually a Cornish name, so that one doesn't bother me. The rest of them are pretty horrific.
