Im tossing around the idea of two middle names, because I just can't decide on one, and I'm curious as to how it would affect my baby as far as standardized tests and other paperwork goes. I know that there is usually one spot for a middle initial, and I would assume that the first middle name would be in that spot. But if he didnt like that middle name could he use the other instead? Any feedback would be great, btw.

i have 2 middle names and i usually just use the first one as an initial on tests. and sometimes they'll print my middle names as one name on official documents (which is fine really, they sort of run together anyway: Grey Leng).

I think a hyphen might be silly. I'm not a fan of hyphenated names, though.

leave them unhyphenated. its not really a hassle at all.

One of my best friends is named Abigail "Abby" Ruth Elizabeth F______.

She always just used the R. She doesn't even use the E when stating her full initials; she says her initials are ARF (lol). She said that it's not that she doesn't like Elizabeth, or that she prefers Ruth, it's just that Ruth is first (and shorter!).

She says on forms where they need her full middle name, she puts both if there is not a space issue. With space issues, she just uses Ruth.

Hope that helps! :)

I have two middle names and I have never had a problem. On a form when there is a spot for a middle initial I have always put both my middle initials.

If "Mary Anne" can be considered one first name, then so could a two-part middle name. Even if you don't intend for the middle names to be run together in the same way that "Mary Ellen" or "Jimmy Sue" :) might, it could still be considered as such. So if you named your kid Mabel Carnation Pretty Smith, for purposes of documents and stuff she could always just indicate that "Carnation Pretty" is her whole middle name, like "Mary Ellen" would be someone's whole first name. :) Or someone's whole middle name, for that matter.

My husband is James Martin Daniels Lastname. For standardized tests, he writes in James M Lastname. On his drivers' license he is Lastname, James Martin D.

His sister is Mary Caitlin Daniels Lastname, and she goes by Cait or Mary Cait.

I think two middle names can be really beautiful if you pick good ones or if they are honoring family. It won't make a huge deal on standerdized tests, they can just use the first initial or whichever they want.

My full name is Tamsin Colleen (after my aunt) Campbell (my great-grandmas' maiden name) Fitzgerald.

It's usually Tamsin C. Fitzgerald on documents, though.

By the way, I like two middle names better than one.
I used to hate it when I was younger, but now I'm grown to love it.

I remember there being 2 spaces for middle initial on most of the standardized tests that I took (granted not all), which would make having 2 middle initials not a big deal at all. I remember there being 2 spaces because instead of just writing my middle initial, I would always just put my whole middle name-- Jo.

I have 2 middle names. There's only usually one space on standardized tests and what not, so I just used the first initial. However, on my driver's license, s.s. card, etc. Both initials are listed. I actually go by my first middle name socially, so that's the only confusion I've had lol

My son [Kade David Walker] obviously has 2 middle names and i think it sounds pretty good together. I didn't really think about the problems of initials on forms and stuff when i was naming him i just choose the name combination i wanted. Alot of people like it and say it sounds better with the 'Walker' added in rather than plain 'Kade David'.
