Imogen?
Jorja?
Zara?
Gemma?
I've never heard of any of those until now (Well, Jorja just seems like a really weird spelling of Georgia... but idk) What is Imogen?
Boys

Jai?
Beau?
Callum?
I have heard of Hammond (baby blues lol) but I've never heard of Hamish... have any of you? And what do you think of these names? They are ... interesting.

Date: 2006-12-28 10:14 am (UTC)The Queen of the UK and Australia has a granddaughter by the name of Zara.
I'm really surprised Gemma isn't familiar, as it's a fairly common name here. I probably come across as many Gemmas as Emmas.
I've only ever heard of Jorja on the actress Jorja Fox (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0289080/). I had read - here, I think - that it might be pronounced Yor-ya, but she pronounces it Georgia and that's the pronunciation behindthename gives.
Hamish and Callum are Scottish, Rhys is Welsh; the last two are also popular in the UK. I've never heard Beau (French for beautiful, attractive) on anyone outside the States - it always seems like a jock name on bad TV films!

Date: 2006-12-28 01:22 pm (UTC)I actually really like Hamish now - it's grown on me since I first heard it (although there is a cute comedian with the name). I also quite like Flynn - but I prefer Finn.
Rhys is Welsh - pronounced Reese (but masculine)

Date: 2006-12-29 03:40 am (UTC)I'm surprised you've never heard of the names Imogen and Gemma as they're, yeah, extremely well-known over here. In my year at school alone, I knew at least four Imogens and Gemmas. Gemma means gem/jewel, and Imogen is another Celtic name meaning maiden.
Zara, apart from being the name of one of the Queen's granddaughters, is a varient of Sarah. I know a couple of Zaras. Beau... well, I only know one Beau and he got his name because his mother just liked it, but probably a lot of the younger Beaus are getting their names from an actor called Beau Brady who is/was (have no idea becuase I've never watched it!) on one of the most popular soap operas in Australia.
Hmm... yeah, just expanding your knowledge of Australian names!
