My teacher and his wife had their first daughter today/yesterday. They named her Charlie Victoria.

I think it's pretty. I'm pretty sure the 'Charlie' is after Chaplin, as he is a die-hard Chaplin fan, and a Drama teacher. I think Charlie isn't too bad on a girl.

That actually happened to me once.
I had a guy in my class called Ashley and he put his hand up and the substitute thought he was joking and sent him to the office. :/

Ashley was actually originally a male name lol... Hmm I've come accross quite a few male kellys and I associate that as a female's name.

I know, but now people seem to only recognize it as a girl's name.
I've only known one guy-Kelly, and I've known OF about five or so girl Kellys, but I still associate it with a boy's name.

Ashley is a commonish male name in England. I mean it used to be a lot more popular for males than females
My housemate at uni is called Ashleigh and he's a boy. That annoys me... leigh is mainly the female spelling right..

I agree! I think Charlie might be cute as a nn (I picture a cute little tomboy) but as an actual given name? Nope.

Besides, it just clashes so horribly with Victoria, which is a serious, old-fashioned name...if they were going that route, they should've made her Charlotte Victoria, and just gone for Charlie as the nn.
