I was looking around here and found this:

Google Kai was born on September 12,2005,in Sweden. His Lebanese father,Dr Kai,says:“When my wife and I discovered that she was pregnant, the first thing I said was:‘let’s name our kid Google.’ Everyone was laughing and nobody took me seriously. I remember my brother saying:‘and call the next child Yahoo Fuji Nikon.’When it was time to register the child’s birth,I suggested the name Google Kai. My wife knows that I’m a major Google fan and took me seriously immediately.”

Poor kid.

They can call him Goo or Gooey. How cute.

Just because you know your husband is serious doesn't mean you have to agree with him!! :)

My husband has "suggested" investing in a Porsche, but I didn't bolt down to the dealership because I know he loves Porsches!

Maybe they had a deal where one could name one kid and the other the next kid. My neighbors says NEVER make that deal! That's how she ended up having a son named Goucho

I thought Sweden was one of the countries with pretty strict naming laws.

Yup - here's an article (http://www.perfect-baby-names.com/Danish-baby-names-article.html) about Denmark's naming laws.

Damn, that's awesome.

They should carry that over to the States.

Me too, actually, but I think that might be Denmark.

There are multiple countries. I don't remember which though. I was thinking Sweden, Denmark and France all had to approve names before they became official.

There are laws on the books in Norway, Malaysia, Japan, Germany, and Portugal as well, though they all have varying degrees of strictness.

Ooh, and in the Czech Republic, apparently there's one lady who decides whether foreign and odd names are appropriate or not!

I think the most unfortunate last name I've experienced is Capenigro.

Seems fine, but it is pronounced Cap-a-Negro and the family [girl I went to school with] lives in Detroit, MI.
I remember her getting teased when we were middle school aged kids because of it.

Ack, if that was me I'd just change the pronunciation. ca-PENN-ig-ro sounds good.

Eeehhh he can always go by Kai and he will always have a converstion piece in his name.

I'm not saying people should start naming trends like that but at least he has Kai to go by.

Sadly, Kai is his last name:

"His Lebanese father,Dr Kai," etc.

My husband use to go by his last name in college and Kai is also a name. I'm not saying it's going to be easy I just think people are getting way too "0000nn0000zzzz h0w h0rrible" about and I personally find it amusing as hell. Sure the kit will most likely change his name but he can always go by a nickname.

This is coming from me though - before my husband put the nix on it I was wanting to call this baby boy Chaos - yes as his first name Chaos but as I said that was majorly nixed.

Ugh. It's one thing to name someone after a company, but so much worse when that company's name already sounds ridiculous.
