I fell in love with the name Manon after hearing that Damian Lewis had named his baby daughter that. The only question is, how would you prounce it in an English speaking country? I know in French it is something like ma-NAW. If you met a little baby American Manon, how would you expect her to say it?

I would expect her to say it the French way. It's a very French name to me.

It also reminds me of the 1996 film "The Craft." LOL

manon is also welsh, apparently. i knew a welsh kid called manon and she said it "man-on." it suited her a lot. i like it with the french pronounciation as well tho.

I hate to say it...but I am as American as they come and I want to say MAN-on, like "man on the moon." :/

I love the name, ever since watching Manon des Sources - a great movie btw.
The movie's french, but it should have subtitles.

The way we french-folk pronounce it is Mah-no-n the last n being somewhat silent.
In english I have heard Ma-non/ Man-on.

Everyone would read it as "Man-on" to rhyme with Cannon or Dannon. The French pronunciation is much nicer, though.

OMG that name is hideous... I would say it Man-uhn. Not very appropriate for a girl. Wowwww.

btw I mean that the way a lot of American's would prn it is hideous. It sounds fine w/ the French prn but on first glance I'm guessing most people would say Man-uhn.

the french way.

If i'd name my child a french name (high chance) i'd expect everyone else to pronounce it that way. I'd also learn my child that his/her name is the french way.
Tho if the child prefers to pronounce it the english way he/she is free to "change" her name into English.
