Matt Lauer and his wife had a baby boy this morning. They named him Thijs, which is apparently a common Dutch name (Lauer's wife is Dutch) pronounced "Tice".

Personally, I don't like it. But, then, I'm not Dutch. I like the names of their other two children, Jack and Romy, though.

the "th" is pronounced like a normal T.
I dont know why the H is in the name because you dont pronounce it. However, the normal version of Thijs is with the h.
I've seen some boys names Tijs (which is more logical) but its not the normal way of writing this name

Right, that's what I was saying. It's the same as the names Thalia and Mathilda which are pronounced the same as Talia and Matilda.

It drives me nuts when the H spellings are used because every American instinct in me wants to make a "thhhh" sound.
