[identity profile] corin13.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

I am having a baby sometime around christmas (due dec 26th)

What spelling do you like better??

Mary Noelle

Merry Noelle

Mary Noel

Merry Noel

ETA:
I think I agree with most of you about Mary Noelle.  My first thought though was that Mary was just a little too boring, but Merry is really just over-the-top themish even if it is unique.

My other kids names are kind of old fashioned too.

I have a:
Adrian Dean
Daniel John Paul
Joan Ave Marie

I am totally inlove with the thought of having the two girls have old fashioned names with the same number of letters, because Adrian and Daniel have the same number of letters too, and my husband and I have the same number of letters (Paige and Jason).   If for some reason this baby ends up being a boy I want to continue the theme and have all boys names have 6 letters.

can't say I'm a fan of any of them. That'd be like giving a kid born around Easter the name Esther Bunnie

Ditto.

Or Yule Log. Nova Anna for a Jan 1 baby.

Valentine for a Feb 14 baby.

Etc.

I say this as a December 27 baby who would have hated Mary Noelle with a passion.

But paired with Noelle, *ESPECIALLY* when the kid's birthday is right around Xmas?

And, actually, Valentine is a perfectly "normal" name.

Aw, I usually think "theme names" are nauseating, but I kind of like this idea.

The first name is the only one that consists of two actual girls' names. So, Mary Noelle.

uh, merry as in 'merry christmas'?
mary is nice, so is noelle. noel is pretty masculine to me and i'm just not feeling 'merry' at all.

Either of the spellings of Noel is fine.

I vastly prefer Mary to Merry.

Mary Noelle

I think with your Catholic naming pattern in the past that it works very well with your other children's names. I remember they all had Catholic roots to them.

I prefer Mary Noelle. To me, Mary and Merry sound completely different, and if you use Merry it will be too Christmasey. =D BTW, congrats and hope you have a safe and relatively easy delivery. :)

Mary and Merry sound completely different to me. I think Merry Noel/Noelle would just border on too silly, but I think that Mary Noel/Noelle is very pretty and gives a Christmas theme without being over the top.

Since Noelle is the more feminine version of the name, I like it better. Mary Noelle is really pretty. :)

Mary Noelle sounds really pretty, and looks pretty spelling wise.

I really love Mary. It's old-fashioned in a pretty, quaint way and I don't think it's boring at all. I hardly ever see it used. I like Noelle better than Noel.

Mary Noelle. I think Noelle would get her name pronounced correctly, and Merry is over the top to me.

I have an aunt Mary Christine, born dec 24. goes as Chris, Chrissy when she was younger. I don't think my grandparents ever called her Mary!

I see you've already chosen, but I'd have also picked Mary Noelle.

if you go two weeks over (into january), will you keep the name or pick a different one?

Have you thought of using Noelle as a first name? My daughter is Noelle Elizabeth

Just wanted to pop back in after your edit and say I LOVE your kids' names. Yay. And Mary would be great. Barely anyone's named Mary these days.

I like your names AND your "theme" if you can call it that. They are not over the top and the # of letters thing is sweet.

I prefer Noel since that is how the Christmas version is spelled. There's a girl in our church whose b-day is near Christmas named Noel, and she collects things that say Noel, which is really cool.

I LOVE Mary, I don't think it's boring at all, I think it's a beautiful classic name that will stand out among all these Nevaehs and Mahkynzyies. It's really high up on my list. But I do think adding Noel/lle is really constricting her to birthdate...like, she won't be able to say "I was named after a very important person to my parents" or "I was named this because my parents loved the name" or something, she'll just have "I was named this because I was born around Christmas." You know?

Oh but I do like Noelle best.

Mary is too old and boring and Noelle is eh.

Now I am against theme names it's just to me dumb.

But Mary Noelle is the best out of them all.

Merry Noelle.

I don't know if I'd use Merry around the Christmas season, but I dislike Mary and LOVE Merry. Well, I like Merrie best. It's a totally different name to me just with that different spelling.

I have a good friend named Merry, she hasn't stopped complaining about the spelling of her name since I've met her.
For that reason alone I'd go for Mary - and I *adore* Noelle.
What a fantastic idea!! :)

I would be mortified if my parents named me anything to do with Easter, and I was born ON Easter.

Also, Noel is a man's name pronounced like Joel.

By the way, I love your other children's names.
