Does Elisha pronounced ee-LIE-sha sound more masculine or feminine to you?
It means "my God is salvation" and is a masculine biblical name, but apparently more recently people have used it for girls.

E-lie-sha is definatly masculine, but let me warn you, if you name your son Elisha, odds are he'll spend the rest of his life correcting people when they call him a woman. My daddy is Elisha and if it isn't a telemarketers or mailmen calling him a female, it's someone being aweful ignorant about pronouncing his name correctly. Even when you correct them. My father has been "Elijah" and e-LEE-sha for as long as I can remember. ::sigh::

It angers me, too, because I wanna name my first born son after daddy, but I don't want to put him through that. blah. Lol.

Sorry that this is incredably tangenty... Daddys name gets me very worked up. ::rolls eyes::

If it helps, I've watched my little cousin grow up with the name Elisha and he hasn't had problems with it. It might be because he lives in the Bible Belt, though.

I think people screwing up a rather well-known name like that makes them sound stupid. It's a good way to figure out if the person you are talking to on the phone has a brain or not. ;)
