Help needed!
Nov. 9th, 2006 06:06 pmI just got a new kitten. I need a name for him. :)

I adopted him from my sister, who breeds siamese. They named him Rocky after his daddy because he looks like him. But I'm allowed to change the name, lol. I'm not sure if he would fall under lilac, chocolate, or blue point. He's very light and mostly gray but with dark brownish gray points. I've been calling him Lonely Boy lately since he misses his family and has been whining lately. :( He's not yet gotten used to the other cats and is mostly just watching and observing my older siamese cat, Meezy. Kind of distancing himself, though. He's very sweet and likes to cuddle when he's sleepy but he has been wanting to wander since he got here.
Just let me know any suggestions you may have. :)
Here are a list of my interests for reference:
Harry Potter
The Chronicles of Narnia
A Series of Unfortunate Events
CATS
Wicked
Phantom of the Opera
Les Miserables
Beauty and the Beast
RENT
Mythology of all kinds.
French and English names.
Things I'm trying to avoid:
Insanely cutesy or pretentious-sounding names.
Typical pet names (i.e. names that everyone uses for their pets).
♥ Thanks. :)

Date: 2006-11-10 01:54 am (UTC)I tend to go with anomalies that fit for a reason, usually, but not always. I have a cat named Globe who is now called Zobe and a cat named Gatito. My cat Globe actually earned that name.
Anyway, as a disclaimer, I give my pets human names a lot of the time and I love my pets like they were kids...but I would NEVER name a human anything like Radio, Globe, etc. Just to be clear. :) After all, animals don't really know words or names apart from anything else except because they are repeated. You don't have to worry about them getting made fun of. ;)

Date: 2006-11-10 03:40 am (UTC)Weird, when i first saw your kitty, and references, the name "Gaston" popped into my head. the only place i could think I've ever heard that is Beauty and the Beast. but then i looked up Phantom of the Opera, and it's the author's first name. maybe i knew that somewhere in my brain.
Other suggestions I like:
Raoul (from Phantom)
Victor and/or Hugo (FN/LN of author of Les Mis)
Valjean
Marius

Date: 2006-11-10 09:35 am (UTC)I am the proud owner of 3 kitties & 1 dog right now, and all have "god/goddess" names = Nike, Chantico (Tico), Luna & Zephyr. My lil' boy kitten is named "Zephyr"... I personally love it.
For your new baby, I'd LOVE "Zeus"... :)!
