That's odd to me. How do you pronounce each? Maybe it's a regional thing.


To me, and everyone I've ever known, Sara and Sarah are both pronounced sair-uh, the first syllable rhyming with hair/hare.

i pronounce sar-a like jar-a too, and sarah like sai-ra. but i know two sarahs who spell their names that way and pronouce it like jar-uh! one of them is american and the other is french-speaking. (& i'm british.)
