(no subject)

What do you think of the names Kyle and Tristan for girls?

(I have known girls with both of these names.)

Both boy names, so I hate them on a girl. But I hate Tristan on a boy too.

ditto.

Shockingly awful. I don't understand the boys names on girls thing. You wouldn't name a boy "Annabel" or "Sarah" would you?

I don't much like them for boys either to be honest, but that's just personal taste. On girls though...ugh.

My husband was just telling me that his co-worker's wife is named Kyle. I don't like it all. I love Kylie and sort of like Kyla, though.

Tristan is alright. I like it better for a boy.

I know a girl Kyle. I tried to marry her off to my brother Kyle. They would name their 2.5 children Kiel, Kyel, and Ky.

I don't like Kyle for a girl, Tristan's ok.

My grandparents are both named Charles and their first son is Charles.

your grandma is called charles?

It's her first name, but she goes by her middle name: Rudelle.

Kyle is okay for a girl, but Tristan for me is strictly a boys name.

Tristan is to boyish for me BUT I have a cousin named Trista (female) and love that name. Acctually when she was born 22 yrs ago my aunt called me and gave me 3 choices for her name and I picked it so even at the age of 12 I liked that name a lot.

Trista's my name :)!

I plan on naming my first child Kyle no matter if it's a boy or a girl. I'm in love with the name :)

Tristan would sound feminine to me but I associate it with men like in the legend and the James Herriot stories.

I can't take Kyle that seriously as a boys name because I heard the name Kylie first.

Both names sound so similar to their female equivalents Trista and Kylie, but people might as well use the female versions for girls.

Poor girls.

[identity profile] space-monkey340.livejournal.com 2006-10-21 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Both are boys names. Tristan is actually my top choice for our baby if it is a boy.

Tristan has always sounded girly to me because it's so close to Kristen. And I've known only one Tristan in my life and she was a girl. Her nickname was Trista. I know it was originally a boys' name.. but it sounds so feminine to me. Kyle is strictly a boys' name to me. I've only ever known male Kyles, my nephew included.

I've always thought Tristan sounded girly, too, cause my name is Kristen and I couldn't imagine a boy having a name so similar to my own. I don't like Tristan for either sex, though.

I'm on the fence, mostly because a) I like both names and b)I've known girls with the names. Not that it should change my mind, but when you get used to something it doesn't sound so 'weird' anymore. But, I do feel kind of weird about the boys names for girls trend. Like I'd be stealing from what I consider to be a limited pool of good boy names.

My husband desperately wanted to name my daughter Tristan but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, bc it really is a boy's name to me no matter how many girls I [will] see with it.

hate, what's ith boys names for girls. blurgh

[identity profile] sotypical42483.livejournal.com 2006-10-23 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
hideous.

I like Kyle as a girl's name as long as you know she'll get a lot of mispronounciations. My friend Kyle (a girl) gets called Kylie a lot.
Tristan reminds me of Tristan and Isolde ... but I think it could work well for both.
