word names

What are some normal everyday words that you think would make great names, if only they weren't a word. e.g. Alien... if you can forget the meaning, I could imagine it being someone's name

I don“t think they would be great for a child BUT I know that they are existing !

Serendipity is a such a pretty word sometimes I wish it was a name. And yes, I realize I could "make" it a name but considering it means 'fortunate mistake/accident' I don't think that's a good idea for a child lol.

I think someone here mentioned Candide one time as fitting something along these lines.

wow, it definitely does! I wonder if anyone's ever actually used that one b/c it seems possible

Ashley Angel Parker's (O-Town) son's name is Lyric.

[identity profile] 5thousandkisses.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That's funny. It would strike me as a girls name if anything.

[identity profile] elsh.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Frighteningly, people do name their kids this lately (or want to).

[identity profile] trissyd.livejournal.com 2006-10-12 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah, Lyric is my favorite name for a boy :)
I know that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but both myself and my boy adore it.

I have cats with word names (not that I'd ever do that to a human being). One is Globe (there's a story behind that) and the other is Gatito (the Spanish word for kitten).

I think Zinc might sound cool as a name if it weren't a word. Maybe Cinder? I don't think it would make a great name, but sounds enough like one. So many words have been made into names, so that might already be one. I can't think of anything that I think would sound great, but here are some words that could sound like names: simile, duet, ecstasy, envy, eucalyptus, martial, pawn, rosary, sable, saffron, zenith, allergy, chamois, pashmina..

Many words that sound like they could be names (that I come across) I'm afraid have already been used as such...even when they shouldn't be. I hope this post doesn't give people ideas. :p

After you read the book As She Grows, you'll never want to name a child Snow.

I'm an exception, however. :]

Oh, yeah, it's good, but the character is not someone you'd want to associate a child with.

It's about a girl who gets pregnant when she's fifteen, and is into the whole drug and sex scene.

I love the word Echo. I would use it as a name if...I were a celebrity.

I thought of one I might like if it weren't a word: anemone.

CLEMENTINE.
As anyone who has ever seen what my icon is about, you can probably guess why.

Would a kid get teased too often with a name like Clementine?
