here (in holland) this name Charmayne seems to be very populair for girls
in my school there is a; Charmayne, Germaine, Chermaine, Shermain and a Sjarmayne all pronounced as; Cher-mà-ne
and i know a boy named Germain

i dont know if i like Charmayne as name
and i dont know what to think about all those ways of writing it.

my daughter's name is Germaine! I wouldn't associate all those other names with it, though. I mean, sure they're derived from the same name, but... well, I just don't like them.

I thought of you (well, your daughter actually) when I read this post. :)

and I thought what you said too, that Germaine sounds different/I wouldn't associate it with Charmayne (any spelling).

This is going to be a poor example, but it would be like saying that Gerry and Sherry were versions of the same name, instead of just names that rhyme.

that is entirely possible. I can sort of understand how a "g" might get prn. like that... but here those specific names have different sounds. :)
